Job Title: Supplier Development Engineer (Aerospace Manufacturing)Location: Phoenix, ArizonaType: Contract (6 months, with likelihood of extension)Work Schedule: Hybrid (3 days on-site, 2 days remote)Job DescriptionOur client, a leading aerospace manufacturer, is seeking an experienced Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) for a six-month contract position, with a strong possibility of extension. The SDE will play a critical role in enhancing supplier performance and ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality materials and components. This position requires a blend of on-site and remote work, offering flexibility while maintaining a close connection to the client's operations.Key ResponsibilitiesSupplier Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers specializing in casting, forging, sheet metal, and machining processes.Process Improvement: Utilize Six Sigma and Lean methodologies to identify, analyze, and improve supplier processes, ensuring compliance with aerospace industry standards.Recovery Plans: Develop and implement effective recovery plans for suppliers falling short of performance and quality expectations.Root Cause Analysis: Conduct thorough root cause and corrective action (RCCA) investigations to resolve issues and prevent recurrence.Data Analysis: Analyze supplier performance data to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.SAP Utilization: Leverage SAP for tracking, monitoring, and reporting on supplier performance metrics and inventory management.Technical Expertise: Provide technical guidance and support to suppliers, ensuring they have the necessary resources and knowledge to meet the client's requirements.Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with procurement, quality, and engineering teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment on supplier development initiatives.Reporting: Prepare and present reports on supplier performance, project status, and improvement initiatives to senior management.QualificationsExperience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in supplier development, quality engineering, or a related field within the aerospace industry.Technical Skills: Proficiency in machining processes, casting, forging, and sheet metal fabrication.Data Analysis: Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and statistical tools.Software: Proficient in SAP and other relevant software tools.Methodologies: Certification or extensive experience in Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, or similar process improvement methodologies.Problem-Solving: Demonstrated ability to conduct effective RCCA and develop robust recovery plans.Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and external suppliers.Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field is preferred.Work EnvironmentHybrid Work Model: 3 days a week on-site at our client’s aerospace manufacturing site, 2 days a week working remotely.Travel: Occasional travel to supplier sites may be required.BenefitsCompetitive hourly rateFlexible work schedulePotential for contract extension based on performance and project needsIf you are a proactive and experienced Supplier Development Engineer with a passion for improving supplier performance and ensuring the highest standards in aerospace manufacturing, we encourage you to apply for this exciting opportunity.
