Brief DescriptionKitchell seeks an experienced and dedicated Design Project Manager to join our Southern California region in Los Angeles area and build a long-term career at one of the most innovative and growth-oriented building companies in the United States.OverviewFrom planning to close-out and DSA certification, this position will proactively coordinate, manage, and monitor the design process to ensure that all Education Market Sector Projects are designed, constructed, and completed in compliance with DSA guidelines.Duties And ResponsibilitiesManages the process for timely and compliant production, review, and sign-off of design deliverablesQuality review of plans, specifications, schedules for quality, constructability, coordination, and clarityActs as an Owner’s Representative with direct client facing responsibilities Simultaneously manages multiple projects located at multiple campus sitesManages and supervises a team of design professionals and other professionals through the design review processPerforms quality review, implementation of policy and procedures and interface and coordinates with the Division of the State Architects (DSA)Oversight of contracts, drawings, estimates, and specifications to ensure compliance to project requirementsResponsible for quality control and assurance of projects in design and in construction Manages project controls, cost, schedule, performance activities, and procedures required by the clientConducts project meetings and provide documentation, administration, and tracking of relevant information. Ensure contractor, architect, engineer, will adhere to contractual requirements on areas of safety, performance, project staff, and equipmentProvides management of project logistics, organization, and safetyEnsures project closeout to obtain guarantees, warranties, and related provisions for final project delivery to the ownerRequirementsExperience and EducationBachelor’s degree in Architecture or Engineering is required10 or more years of experience in design and/or design management is required with 5 or more of those years with projects requiring DSA Certification is requiredExperience in design and design management of major K-14 or higher education projects is requiredKnowledge And SkillsKnowledge of DSA requirements and relevant provisions of the California Public Contract Code, as well as regulations and requirements governing DSA submissions is requiredUnderstanding of Sustainable Design Principles is requiredUnderstanding of risk management principles and the risk management process is requiredUnderstanding of scope definition and scope interface is requiredLicense and Certifications Valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record, free from suspensions or restrictions, is requiredA CA credential from the California Architectural Board or a PE credential for the State of California is preferredTravel RequirementsThis position is project site based embedded at the client campus location in Los Angeles, CA.Work EnvironmentWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly work in an office and or construction environment. Conditions regularly include exposure to outdoor elements, hot/cold temperatures, wet conditions, noise, atmospheric conditions, and cramped quarters. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud.Physical RequirementsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee must regularly sit, stand, walk, talk, or hear and use hands to finger, feel and handle; frequently reach with hands and arms; occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The Company’s salary ranges are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual pay is determined through interviews and an assessment of various factors, including job-related skills, relevant education and experience, abilities of the applicant and equity with other team members.
