FLSA Status:Non-ExemptSafety Sensitive :YESLevel II Screening : NOUnder the general direction of the designated supervisor, position is responsible for the collection and storage of data for management and regulatory agencies; maintain equipment; and control flow and processing of water/wastewater. This job has no supervisory responsibilities.Responsibilities and Reporting During an Emergency Situation :
Essential Employeesmay be required to work during a declared emergency. Depending on the nature of the emergency, this may require working around the clock for several days on short notice.
Non Essential Employeeswill not be required to work during a declared emergency. The employee's Department Head will determine when the employee will be required to work.Duties/ResponsibilitiesCollect samples and perform required analysis.
Record data and analytical results.
Monitor biological operation and make changes as often as conditions warrant.
Perform housekeeping duties, as needed.
Maintain supply inventories.
Conduct minor maintenance, as needed.
Continue education both for licensing and to remain current.
Required to drive a motor vehicle to accomplish assign tasks.
This position requires regular and reliable attendance and the employee's physical presence at the workplace.
Performs other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIESKnowledgeable in plant safety precautions, and occupational hazards associated with the treatment operations
Knowledgeable in state and federal operating permits and regulations.
Knowledgeable in understanding math pertaining to the treatment process. (basic math)Skill in gathering and maintaining accurate records
Skill in collecting and testing samples
Skill in Troubleshooting of instrumentation, field equipment, and plant operational issues
Skill in time management, prioritization and organization
Ability to use and navigate SCADA systems.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Ability to speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations.
Ability to learn standard operating procedures for the plant
Ability to be adaptable to performing under frequent deadlines and or in response to emergencies
Ability to apply sound judgment and interpretation based on acquired knowledge in circumstances where limited standardization exists.
Ability to form and implement solutions in coordination with other team members
Ability to log and record complete and accurate records into computer system, and daily log sheets.
Ability to perform strenuous work in varying and adverse weather conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; risk of electrical shock; risk of vibration.
Ability to effectively operate necessary equipment, including but not limited to including vehicle, telephone, radio, cell phone, digital camera, computer, printer, copier, facsimile machine and other standard office equipment.
Ability to relate and respond to people beyond giving and receiving instructions, to include applying consistent courtesy and tact in considerable public contact and/or confrontational situations which is not limited to co-workers, customers, and outside vendors.
Minimum RequirementsHigh School diploma or GED
Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
Mandatory Drug/Alcohol Testing required.
Must complete all required correspondence courses and submit application to Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) to take the Operator Certification "C" License test within one (1) year of being hired, and obtain "C" License within eighteen (18) months of employment. Failure to submit application to Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) within one (1) year of hire date or failure to achieve certification within eighteen (18) months of hire date may result in termination.
When assigned to Plant Operator A :Possess an active Florida Water/Wastewater Class "A" license.
When assigned to Plant Operator B :Possess an active Florida Water/Wastewater Class "B" license.
When assigned to Plant Operator C :Possess an active Florida Water/Wastewater Class "C" license.
