This role is hands-on and shop-based, working closely with welders, supervisors, and quality personnel to maintain consistent weld quality throughout the production process.Key ResponsibilitiesPerform visual inspection of production welds in a manufacturing environmentInspect fit-up, joint preparation, and final welds per applicable codes and drawingsVerify welder qualifications, WPS compliance, and material traceabilityInterpret fabrication drawings, welding symbols, and inspection criteriaDocument inspection results, nonconformances, and corrective actionsWork collaboratively with production teams to address quality issues in real timeSupport internal audits and external audits and continuous improvement initiativesMaintain inspection records and quality documentationSupport training and guidance to less experienced weldersRequired QualificationsCurrent AWS Certified Weld Inspector (CWI) certificationExperience inspecting welds in a manufacturing or fabrication shopStrong understanding of welding processes (GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, SMAW, etc.)Ability to read and interpret blueprints and welding symbolsFamiliarity with common manufacturing quality systemsClear written and verbal communication skillsPreferred QualificationsExperience with AWS D1.1 or other applicable manufacturing codesPrior QC or QA experience in a production environmentExperience with continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practicesWork Environment & Physical RequirementsShop-based role with exposure to heat, noise, and industrial equipmentAbility to stand and walk for extended periodsAbility to lift up to 50 lbs as requiredUse of PPE required at all times
