Roadway Design Engineer (PE)Transportation & Infrastructure ProjectsOverviewSeeking a Roadway Design Engineer (PE) to support the planning, design, and delivery of roadway and transportation projects. This role focuses on roadway geometry, drainage, and grading design while contributing to high-quality infrastructure solutions that prioritize safety and efficiency.This position includes opportunities for project management, client interaction, and mentoring junior staff.Key ResponsibilitiesProject DeliveryLead and/or support roadway projects through the full lifecycle, including:Project kickoff and planningEngineering designConstruction supportProject closeoutPerform roadway design, including:Horizontal and vertical alignmentsDrainage designGrading designPrepare plans, specifications, and estimates (PS&E)Manage project scope, schedule, and budgetCoordinate with clients, agencies, and multidisciplinary teamsAssist with project proposals, interviews, and presentationsDesign & Technical ExecutionUtilize roadway design software such as:OpenRoadsMicroStationCivil 3DConduct quality control reviews of engineering deliverablesEnsure compliance with applicable standards and regulationsProvide construction phase support, including:Responding to RFIsReviewing submittalsCoordinating with contractorsStay current with industry standards and technologiesTeam Leadership & CollaborationMentor junior engineers and technical staffProvide technical guidance and supportCollaborate effectively across teams and disciplinesRequired QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering (BSCE)Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas and/or Oklahoma (or ability to obtain)5–10+ years of roadway or transportation design experienceStrong experience with:Roadway design standardsDrainage and grading principlesEngineering design software (OpenRoads, MicroStation, Civil 3D)Strong communication and collaboration skillsAbility to manage multiple projects and prioritiesStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailPreferred QualificationsExperience with transportation agency projects (state, municipal, or public sector)Experience working with transportation departments or municipal clientsExperience mentoring or supporting junior staff
