Senior Software Engineer (Data)

WHAT YOU’LL DOAs a Senior Software Engineer on Viant’s Data team, you will build and optimize the data systems that power our AI-driven DSP, enabling real-time decisioning and measurement across CTV and omnichannel advertising. You’ll work with large-scale datasets and distributed systems in a multi-region cloud environment spanning GCP and AWS.This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys solving complex data challenges, improving system performance, and contributing to scalable infrastructure. You’ll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams while delivering reliable, efficient, and high-quality data solutions.THE DAY-TO-DAYDesign, develop, and deploy data pipelines and backend services in a cloud environmentBuild and maintain ELT workflows using modern data processing tools and frameworksOptimize ETL processes and queries for performance, scalability, and cost efficiencyTroubleshoot data and system issues in production environmentsCollaborate with product, engineering, and operations teams to deliver features and improvementsContribute to system design discussions and implement scalable solutionsEnsure data quality by identifying inconsistencies and resolving issuesSupport ongoing improvements to system reliability, performance, and maintainabilityGREAT TO HAVE5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on data systems or backend developmentProficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, or GoExperience with GCP (including BigQuery) or other cloud data platformsStrong SQL skills and experience working with large-scale datasetsFamiliarity with building APIs, microservices, or distributed systemsUnderstanding of ETL/ELT processes and data pipeline architectureExperience troubleshooting production systems and performance issuesStrong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced environmentLIFE AT VIANTInvesting in our employee’s professional growth is important to us, but so is investing in their well-being.
