Assistant Food Service Technician
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Assistant Food Service Technician to join a healthcare food and nutrition team in the Midwest region. This role is vital in delivering nutritious and appealing meals to patients, staff, and visitors within a fast-paced clinical environment. The position ensures the highest standards of food safety and sanitation while meeting diverse dietary needs. Key ResponsibilitiesPrepare and serve meals following established menus and dietary guidelines. Maintain cleanliness and organization in food preparation and serving areas. Set up cafeteria serving lines and salad bars. Adhere strictly to health and safety regulations to guarantee food safety and sanitation. Label and date all food items, ensuring proper first-in-first-out rotation and checking for spoilage. Prepare patient trays and snacks according to physician diet orders and dietician-approved menus, including selective menus. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment during all job duties. Operate kitchen and cafeteria machinery efficiently. Deliver and pick up meal trays and snacks promptly to patient care areas. Stock kitchen supplies and store groceries properly upon delivery. Participate in ongoing training to stay current with food service protocols and best practices. Education and ExperienceA high school diploma or equivalent is required. Previous experience in food service or a healthcare setting is preferred. RequirementsKnowledge of food safety standards and sanitation practices. Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions accurately. Strong interpersonal skills and a team-oriented mindset. Flexibility to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays. Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and lift heavy items. Comfortable working in environments with temperature variations from cold freezers (-5°) to hot ovens (up to 450°). Ability to tolerate noise from kitchen equipment such as compressors and fans. Willingness to adapt hours to meet departmental needs.
