This position assists staff in maintaining compliance with district, state, and federal regulations while supporting effective educational programming and evidence-based practices for students receiving special education services. The Special Education Process Coordinator works collaboratively with staff, students, and families to support student growth, positive educational outcomes, and effective implementation of special education services. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESSpecial Education Process and Compliance CoordinationOversee and monitor the IEP process to ensure compliance with district, state, and federal special education regulationsManage and monitor IEP documentation and processes within our student system or other district systemsConduct periodic file reviews to monitor compliance and maintain accurate special education documentationAssist in managing timelines related to referrals, evaluations, eligibility determinations, IEP development, reevaluations, and transition plansImplement district policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Board policies, district procedures, and state and federal laws and guidanceServe as LEA representative at IEP meetings when significant program resources, services, or compliance concerns are anticipatedMonitor special education files and records to ensure compliance with IDEA and Missouri special education requirementsRemain current on special education laws, regulations, procedural safeguards, and best practicesStudent Support and Educational ProgrammingAssist teachers in identifying evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions to target student learning needsSupport development of student goals and programming aligned with Missouri Learning StandardsAdminister and/or coordinate standardized assessments and individual academic assessments as applicableInterpret assessment results and assist with development of written reports synthesizing evaluation data and recommendationsParticipate in eligibility, evaluation, IEP, and transition meetings to support appropriate educational programming for studentsPromote positive relationships and collaboration with parents, staff, and outside agencies to support student successCommunication and CollaborationCollaborate with administrators, teachers, related service providers, and support staff regarding special education procedures and student programmingProvide support and guidance to staff regarding compliance requirements, timelines, and documentation practicesPrepare reports, correspondence, and other materials related to special education compliance and programmingAttend school, district, and state professional development meetings and trainings as assignedSupport a flexible educational environment favorable to learning, collaboration, and student growthProfessional ResponsibilitiesMaintain accurate, complete, and confidential student recordsParticipate in professional development and remain current on best practices in speech-language pathologyFollow district policies, procedures, and professional standardsSupport district and building initiatives as assignedOTHER JOB FUNCTIONSAbide by state statutes, school board policies, and regulationsAttend meetings as assignedTake all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilitiesMaintain accurate documentation required for Medicaid billing and compliance, if applicablePerform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Education or Building PrincipalKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESKnowledge of special education laws, regulations, timelines, and compliance requirementsKnowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and intervention practicesStrong organizational and time-management skillsAbility to manage multiple deadlines and maintain attention to detailStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound professional judgmentAbility to collaborate effectively with staff, students, families, and outside agenciesProblem-solving and critical-thinking abilitiesWORK ENVIRONMENTAbility to move throughout school buildings and classroomsFrequent interaction with students, families, and staffPossible travel between district buildingsParticipation in meetings or events outside regular hours as neededATTENDANCEConsistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this positionFLSA StatusExemptSalary GradeCertifiedTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 month contract yearAnnual contract for school year and Extended School Year, if applicable, in accordance with the provisions of Board of Education policy on evaluation of certified staff.Background clearance required; the results of which must be satisfactory to the District.EVALUATION: Performance will be evaluated by the Director of Special Educationl in accordance with district policies and teacher evaluation procedures.Applications will be screened as they are submitted.
