Project Scheduler (Operations)

Position Overview The Structured Cabling Project Scheduler is responsible for creating, maintaining, and optimizing project schedules for low-voltage and structured cabling installations. This role ensures that labor, materials, subcontractors, and internal resources are effectively aligned to meet project timelines. The scheduler works closely with project managers, field supervisors, procurement teams, and clients to support accurate forecasting and on-time project delivery. Key Responsibilities Schedule Development & Management Develop detailed project schedules for structured cabling installations (fiber, copper, pathways, racks, wireless systems, data centers, etc.). Break down scope of work into scheduled tasks, milestones, and dependencies. Maintain and update schedules throughout the project lifecycle. Adjust timelines based on field conditions, change orders, material lead times, or staffing changes. Track progress and identify schedule risks or delays proactively. Coordination & Communication Collaborate with project managers to align schedule with project scope, budget, and deliverables. Coordinate with field supervisors to validate task durations, manpower requirements, and resource availability. Communicate schedule changes or impacts to stakeholders in a timely manner. Participate in weekly project meetings and provide schedule updates and forecasting. Resource & Material Planning Forecast labor needs and identify upcoming resource constraints. Coordinate with procurement to ensure timely delivery of cabling materials, hardware, and equipment. Monitor vendor and subcontractor timelines to ensure alignment with master schedule. Reporting & Documentation Prepare weekly and monthly schedule reports for leadership and clients. Track and document schedule deviations and recovery plans. Support creation of project dashboards or visual progress reports. Process Improvement Analyze past project schedules to identify patterns that can improve planning accuracy. Help standardize scheduling best practices and templates for structured cabling projects. Recommend workflow improvements to reduce schedule risks. Required Skills & Qualifications Experience in the structured cabling, low-voltage, or telecommunications industry (preferred). Strong understanding of cabling installation phases: rough-in, cable pull, termination, testing, labeling, documentation, etc. Proficiency in scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera, Smartsheet, or equivalent. Ability to read construction drawings, floorplans, network diagrams, and scopes of work. Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent communication and cross-team coordination abilities. Ability to prioritize, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines. Preferred Qualifications BICSI knowledge or certifications (e.g., BICSI Technician, RCDD awareness). Experience with ERP or project management platforms (e.g., Procore, Monday.com). Knowledge of data center, commercial, or industrial cabling environments. Familiarity with Gantt charts, critical path analysis, and resource leveling. Physical & Work Environment Requirements Standard office environment with occasional site visits for progress verification. Ability to walk active construction sites and verify installation progress, if required.
