Mechanical Engineer IIAs a Mechanical Engineer you will perform engineering tasks under moderate guidance that are varied and moderately difficult, which require troubleshooting and interpretation of data, development of new test methods or procedures and are used for a variety of situations. Assists in the development, execution, and organization of detailed design development as part of major projects with a moderate scope.You will do this byConducts and/or specifies moderately complex tests using techniques to resolve customer concerns/problems; prepares technical reports based on resultsApplies advanced computer-aided engineering analysis techniques to resolve customer concerns/problemsAdheres to new product development processes as it relates to concept analysis, business case, product development, pre-production and post launch steps; recommends methods of manufacture during the design of new products and design modifications or process changes based on cost/design studiesModifies analysis techniques when necessary to solve more complex problemsEvaluates product failures using standard engineering techniquesCompiles and analyzes test results; formulates conclusions and makes appropriate recommendationsProvides liaison support between the engineering department and manufacturingSupports supplier selection and interactionRecommends improvements and/or modifications for sequence of operations, equipment utilization and related mattersContributes to the development of engineering test standards where applicablePerforms other duties as assignedQualificationsComprehensive knowledge of engineering concepts, practices and procedures and other internal engineering standards and systemsKnowledge of engineering systemsKnowledge of company and competitor's products and technical abilities of suppliersWell-developed understanding of company processes and procedures including, but not limited to new product development processStrong interpersonal skills Well-developed written communication skills necessary for technical report writingFluent in English and primary language used in area of responsibility and/or locationThree years of professional engineering experienceEducationBachelor's Degree in EngineeringUniversity degree in Mechanical EngineeringPhysical & Environmental RequirementsMay require travel of a scheduled or urgent nature to review applications, discuss problems, visit suppliers / customers, trade shows, etc.Briggs and StrattonBriggs & Stratton, headquartered in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, provides innovative products and diverse power solutions to help people get work done.
