Accountant IISalary: $66,504 - $94,036 (Annually/ Non-Exempt Position) Posting Date: May 20, 2026Benefits: CalPERS Retirement, Supplemental Insurance,457 Retirement Plan, Flex Spending Account,Employer Contribution to Medical BenefitsFiling Deadline: June 12, 2026JOB SUMMARYUnder general direction, an Accountant II performs professional accounting duties to support financial functions andprocesses; analyzes and reconciles accounting records for compliance with federal and State laws, regulations, andrequirements; reconciles the general ledger and various bank records; prepares federally-compliant cost/priceanalysis, assists with grants accounting reimbursement packages, assists with financial audits and compliancereporting and performs related work as required.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSSupports the month end close process. Performs journal entry preparation and posting, monthly analyses of generalledger accounts, account reconciliations, variance analyses, and the preparation of the monthly board reports aswell as other duties assigned to complete the close. Monitors compliance with generally accepted accountingprinciples and organizational procedures. Assists and prepares computerized reports/spreadsheets based on local,state, or federal requirements. Cross trains and assists with accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory, fixedassets, grant support and payroll functions as assigned. Prepares grant reimbursement packages and reporting incompliance with federal, State, and local requirements. Prepares cost/price analysis for procurement projects tocomply with federal regulations. Assists with annual financial audits, State Controllers Financial Transactionsreports, National Transit Database reporting, State and federal audits by providing supporting documentation;conducts research and organizes various files as needed to complete orderly audits and compliance reporting.Performs routine clerical and accounting tasks, including data entry and record maintenance. Supports financedepartment with financial system automation projects, updating processes and documenting procedures asassigned. Observes and complies with all District and mandated safety and security rules, regulations, andprotocols.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE & ABILITYKnowledge of managerial accounting and financial practices; knowledge of state and federal payroll laws andCalPERS processes, procedures and reporting protocols; experience in accounting, financial and governmentalreporting and recordkeeping requirements including GAAP, FASB, and GASB principles; ability to comply withDistrict and mandated safety rules, regulations, and protocols; techniques for effectively dealing with the public,vendors, contractors, and staff; proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, working knowledge of ERP systemspreferably Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, ability to use modern office equipment relevant to workperformed; ability to analyze financial data and draw sound conclusions; ability to independently organize work, setpriorities, meet critical deadlines, and follow-up on assignments; use tact, initiative, prudence within general policyand procedural guidelines; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both verbally and in writing, usingappropriate English grammar and syntax; ability to establish, maintain, and foster positive and effective workingrelationships with those contacted in the course of work.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTSEquivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting,finance, business administration, or related field, and two (2) years of professional level experience in accountingand finance.FILINGThe minimum qualifications as stated on this job announcement represent only the basic requirements of theposition.
