OverviewAssociates must be able to read architectural and structural plans, and produce design work that is accurate, optimized, and meets 84Lumber’s design standards. Strong computer skills are required. They should be able to use different EWP engineering software, Microsoft Office Suite, and job tracking software. Strong communication and organizational skills are required to be efficient at customer support, which is a top priority. Associates must have a strong work ethic and adhere to the company’s P&P standards and be willing to do any tasks assigned to them by their supervisor.ResponsibilitiesEssential FunctionsReading architectural prints to create engineered wood placement layoutsReading and interpreting blueprintsEnsure designs are accurate, optimized, and conform to standardsRequest sealed engineering drawings and/or repair details, and follow up to ensure complete when necessaryGenerate EWP placement layouts for final constructionGenerate and provide accurate pricing for estimating purposesProvide job-site support, with the aid of the sales department, when requestedAid in training of new employees when requiredSupervisory ResponsibilityThis position does not have supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentThis position can involve working outdoors or being exposed to wet, humid, extremely hot or extremely cold conditions. May require working in a highly precarious place and near moving mechanical parts. There may be a risk of electrical shock. The position may be exposed to vibrations, airborne particles, or toxic chemicals.Physical DemandsThis can involve sitting for long periods of time, use of hands, and talking on the telephone. Rarely, the position may require lifting heavy objects or outdoor exposure.Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position. Hours of work depends on hours of operations, 48+ hours per week.TravelTravel is not expected for this position.QualificationsAdditional CompetenciesHigh level of knowledge of the construction industryAbility to solve and define practical problems in various situations to reach a valid conclusionAbility to effectively use judgment while reviewing and conducting projects and estimationsEffectively determine and interpret architectural design strategiesAbility to read and interpret architectural and structural blueprintsAbility to calculate tributary loads, concentrated loads, and load transfer through a buildingAbility to operate a computer and design software such as 20/20Excellent oral and written communication skillsGood math skills including but not limited to architectural units, fractions, geometry, and basic trigonometryRequired Education And ExperienceBachelors degree in Art, Graphic Design, or related disciplines highly preferred.
