CRM Entry – NERC – Business Analyst / QA Engineer (Contract)Company: NERC (North American Electric Reliability Corporation)Position: Business Analyst / QA Engineer (Contract)Department: Personnel Certification & Credential MaintenanceReports To: Manager, Personnel Certification and Credential Maintenance (Barbara Nutter)Location: Remote (Eastern Time preferred)Bill Rate: $85/hrHours: 40/weekDuration: ~10-month contract (no conversion)Interview Process: 2–3 rounds (Barbara Nutter + Darrell Moore + Christy Cifreo)Overview / Intake Summary This is a QA-heavy Business Analyst role focused on UAT, regression testing, and documentation. The hire will play a key role in supporting a major enterprise application rollout scheduled to go live November 5th. The system will be used by individuals and companies across NERC’s network to:Maintain active certifications Track continuing education hours Manage payments and credential status Supporting ~7,500 system operators across the U.S. and Canada. This is not an LMS, but a certification and compliance tracking platform. Environment is manual testing (no formal QA tools). This is a purely contingent role (no conversion). Scope of the RoleThis individual is stepping into a mission-critical role tied directly to a system go-live.They Will Help define and execute how the entire application is tested end-to-end Build structured, repeatable testing procedures for all functional areas Ensure the system is fully validated before release (UAT, regression, some integration) Create clear documentation for:Internal stakeholders External users (operators, companies) Map out and document:How users interact with the system Step-by-step navigation and workflows Ultimately ensure a smooth, low-risk cutover in November This Is a Blend OfQA ownership (manual testing strategy + execution) Process design (how testing is done going forward) User enablement (documentation + usability guidance) Key Responsibilities Design and execute test plans, test cases, UAT, and regression testing Develop step-by-step testing procedures for repeatability Perform data validation Participate in vendor calls and system discussions Create:Internal documentation External documentation System navigation guides Track and follow up on issues and action items Support user inquiries and system-related questions Maintain and update process documentation Day 1 / Ramp-Up Expectations First ~6 weeks:Heavy training and knowledge transfer Sit in on vendor calls Gain access to the system and explore functionality Early deliverables:Build testing materials Begin data validation efforts (target: August) End goal:Drive toward a seamless go-live on November 5th What Success Looks LikeCreates a comprehensive, structured QA/testing framework Documents clear, repeatable testing processes Produces high-quality user documentation Plays a key role in a smooth system rollout with minimal issues Enables long-term scalability of testing and system usage Ideal Candidate Profile 5+ years of experience in:UAT & regression testing Test plan creation and execution Strong experience with:Manual QA environments System integration and data validation Excellent:Written communication (documentation-heavy) Verbal communication (stakeholder interaction) Ability to:Build structured QA methodologies from scratch Think through end-to-end user journeys Tools:Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Key Callouts / Nuances Highly visible role tied to a November go-live Manual testing environment (no automation tools) Heavy emphasis on:Process creation Documentation User experience clarity Supporting a large, regulated user base across North America
