Pharmacy Technician
Job Title: Pharmacy Technician – REMOTE Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 8:00 PM CT (8-hour shifts) Training Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM CT (6 weeks, mandatory attendance) Location: Remote (Work From Home) Position Summary The Pharmacy Technician is responsible for handling inbound calls from members, providers, and other stakeholders. This role involves assisting with the criteria-based prior authorization process, ensuring accurate documentation of all approvals and denials, and transferring all clinical inquiries to licensed pharmacists. Candidates must be able to work in a HIPAA-compliant, distraction-free environment and meet technical requirements for internet connectivity. Key Responsibilities Provide professional phone assistance to members, providers, and others regarding prior authorizations. Document all interactions, approvals, and denials in a complete, accurate, and timely manner. Transfer clinical questions and judgment calls to pharmacists when appropriate. Utilize Microsoft Teams, Outlook, and other MS Office applications for daily communication and task completion. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA compliance requirements at all times. Participate fully in mandatory training sessions to ensure compliance with policies and procedures. Qualifications Required: High School Diploma or GED (verifiable). Preferred: At least 1 year of experience as a pharmacy technician in an administrative or support role. Preferred: Active Pharmacy Technician Certification (state or national level) or Pharmacy Technician Trainee License. Strong computer proficiency, including MS Teams, Outlook (required), and Word/Excel (helpful). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Ability to focus and work uninterrupted for full shift hours in a quiet, private workspace. Additional Requirements Must provide proof of internet speed (minimum 25 Mbps download, 3 Mbps upload).
