This role plays a key part in advancing solutions that improve the health and well-being of users worldwide.The ideal candidate brings a strong passion for software engineering, a commitment to continuous learning, and the versatility to thrive in a dynamic environment. This individual should also demonstrate leadership potential and a desire to help shape the direction of the team.In this role, the Software Engineer, Cloud will contribute to the design and development of scalable, highly available, efficient, and secure cloud-based solutions for a medical device SaaS platform.WHAT YOU'LL WORK ONDesign and implement services and components utilizing Go for cloud-based platformsCollaborate with internal and external partners to develop and integrate with APIs that empower users to share and utilize their medical data in partner systemsDesign and implement high-quality, scalable, and maintainable systems by developing robust, testable code and ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and uptimeParticipate in all aspects of the software development life cycle for Cloud solutions, including planning, requirements, development, testing, and quality assurance collaboratively with Software EngineeringImplement systemic changes to align existing systems with current architectural goalsCreate diagrams, flowcharts and models that illustrate the internal design and workflow of solution componentsBuild and manage internal tooling, APIs, and production systems, driving automation across build, release, and configuration processes to improve efficiency, reliability, and scalability.Support company initiatives and complies with regulatory requirements by FDA and other relevant globalREQUIRED QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering Mathematics, or related fieldMinimum 6 years of professional software development experience in an Agile environment, including time spent in technical residency programs, or master's degree with 4+ years of related experience.Strong Computer Science fundamentals and experience with software developmentEagerness to contribute beyond experience levelExperience with Git for source control on a collaborative projectUnderstands Object Oriented Programming and design and building modular unit testable codeUnderstands the principles of designing, implementing, and maintaining highly complex asynchronous messaging and backend processing jobsUnderstands the concepts of Docker Containers and container orchestration services such as Docker Swarm, ECS, and Kubernetes.Excellent written, verbal and listening communication skillsExperience working in an agile environment.PREFFEREDExperience with open-source, software development and system engineering.Comfortable working asynchronously with a distributed teamPractical Knowledge of LinuxPractical experience and understanding of working with and developing RESTful APIs and microservicesExperience contributing to a scalable architecture/design of existing and new systems that are highly available and easy to maintain and monitorUnderstanding and familiarity of Test Driven Development (TDD)Experience working with relational datastores such as SQL Server, Postgresql, or MySqlLearn more about our health and wellness benefits, which provide the security to help you and your family live full lives:Follow your career aspirations to Abbott for diverse opportunities with a company that can help you build your future and live your best life.
