Only employees in City job titles in this bargaining unit are eligible to bid.BID INSTRUCTIONS: Apply on the bid site: https://chicago.taleo.net/careersection/103/jobsearch.ftl?lang=en ANDCheck the box on your profile titled "Currently employed by the City of Chicago"Enter your employee ID (located on your pay stub labeled 'payee/employee number')Select your correct bargaining unitFAILURE TO FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS WILL RESULT IN A REJECTED BID APPLICATIONThe City of Chicago's Department of Assets, Information and Services is seeking Fleet Services Supervisors to oversee Fleet Services Assistants working in a vehicle maintenance facility performing non-skilled and manual work in the routine maintenance and servicing of City vehicles and automotive equipment and performs related duties as required.ESSENTIAL DUTIESAs first-line supervisors, prepares work schedules, makes daily work assignments and prioritizes work orders to ensure the efficiency of work operationsReviews daily manpower and re-allocates staff to ensure proper shift coverageImplements safety procedures to minimize accidents and promotes a safe work environment; conducts safety training and provides instruction on safety practicesMonitors work performance and prepares performance evaluations; initiates and enforces disciplinary actions; approves time off requestsPrepares accident and injury reports; maintains productivity records and prepares work reportsMonitors work activities of Fleet Services Assistants to ensure efficiency, timeliness, and adherence to established quality standardsInstructs Fleet Services Assistants in performing preventative maintenance work, including oil and filter changes, lubrication of grease fittings, and checking air pressure on tiresReviews work orders and related reports to ensure proper servicing of vehicles including checking for proper tire-pressure and replenishing of automotive fluidsOrders needed supplies of lubricants, automotive fluids, and cleaning solventsInventories and stores supplies to ensure adequate levels are maintainedInspects work areas to ensure garage floors are kept clean and free of potential hazardsUpdates computerized records on vehicles servicedAssists Fleet Services Assistants in performing the more difficult attendant duties as neededMonitors work activities at fuel stations, traveling to stations to inspect operating conditions and ensuring sites are clean and free of debris, fuel pumps are working properlyEnsures Fleet Services Assistants are providing needed services to vehicles including checking oil and other fluidsResponds to problems at stations reported by Fleet Services Assistants, including inspecting pumps to identify malfunctions and requesting needed repairsConducts safety inspections, ensuring area surrounding underground fuel tanks remain clear and accessible at all times to allow for refuelingChecks and ensures proper records are being maintained including required EPA vapor recovery reports, and manual logs of vehicles arriving at fuel station, type of fuel (e.g., gas, diesel, compressed gas) dispensed, and other services providedAdditional duties may be required for this positionLocation: VariesDays: VariesHours: VariesTHIS POSITION IS IN THE CAREER SERVICE.Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* One year of automotive maintenance work experience in an automotive repair shop or car dealership, OR* A training certificate from a recognized school or training center in automotive maintenance, PLUS six (6) months of automotive maintenance work experience in an automotive repair shop or car dealershipLicensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications* Must possess and maintain a valid State of Illinois driver's licenseNOTE: You must provide your professional licenses, training certificates and/or transcripts/diplomas at time of processing, if applicableNOTE: You must provide your valid U.S. driver's license at time of processing.SELECTION REQUIREMENTSThese positions require applicants to complete an interview.
