Captivation is looking for software developers who can get stuff done while making a difference in support of the mission to protect our country.DescriptionCaptivation Software is looking for a mid level software engineer who will assist with daily responsibilities.ResponsibilitiesAnalyze user and system requirements to design, develop, test, and maintain Java and Angular applicationsDesign, develop, and support RESTful APIs, service integrations, and data access components for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and other relational databasesSupport application modernization initiatives, including Spring Boot migration, database modernization, microservices, and containerizationDeploy and support containerized applications in Kubernetes environments across cloud and on-premises infrastructureParticipate in architecture reviews, code reviews, troubleshooting, technical design, and continuous process improvementDevelop automated unit and integration tests, support CI/CD pipelines, and maintain technical documentation using Confluence and JiraProvide backup database administration support for Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MariaDB while cross-training across application, database, and deployment technologies to ensure operational continuityRequirementsSecurity Clearance:Must currently hold a Top Secret/SCI U.S. Government security clearance with a favorable Polygraph, therefore all candidates must be a U.S. citizenMinimum Qualifications:A minimum of seven (7) years of experience as a SWE is required.Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science from an accredited college or university is requiredDesired Skills:Experience developing Java enterprise applications using Spring Boot (or similar frameworks) and Angular (or comparable front-end technologies)Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs and integrating applications with Oracle, PostgreSQL, MariaDB, or other relational databasesExperience with application modernization, including Spring Boot migrations, microservices, and database modernization initiativesExperience developing, deploying, and supporting containerized applications using Docker, Podman, and Kubernetes platforms (e.g., Rancher, Amazon EKS, OpenShift)Familiarity with Kubernetes concepts including Deployments, Services, ConfigMaps, Secrets, Ingress, Persistent Volumes, Helm charts, and cloud-native architecturesExperience implementing GitLab CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, DevSecOps practices, and modern software delivery processesExperience using Jira and Confluence in Agile environments, providing database operational support, and working with XML, JSON, or other structured data formatsThis position is open for direct hires only.
