Staff Software Engineer - C Developer

We are seeking a highly skilled and self motivated Staff Software Engineer to maintain the code base of two back office software solutions. We have a large number of customers, including some of the largest public and private companies in the US. Your expertise will enable these customers to continue to run mission critical applications. These solutions are not SAAS nor are they designed, packaged, or licensed for that type of implementation. They maintain a strong CLI interface that do not require the web based client to be configured or to function.ResponsibilitiesMaintaining visibility of customer and internally reported problem reports using a customized version of Bugzilla. Using SVN to maintain version control with links to the PR numbers in Bugzilla. Release management, coordinated with Quality Control that ties with version control and Bugzilla.Work with Technical Support to provide source code support when diagnosing issues at customer sites in order to facilitate problem resolution.Maintain the build system and provide product builds to Quality Control for testing, release builds for customers, hot fix platform specific builds/packages to provide for targeted problem resolution at customer sites with customer support and coordination.Perform unit testing and testing for modifications made to the source prior to QA or release testing.QualificationsExperience in software architecture with a strong understanding of system design principles and the role of back end server functionality.Proficiency in C. Knowledge of SCALA and Tomcat is beneficial. Knowledge of RESTful APIs is a bonus but not a requirement.Hands-on experience with TCP/IP level network coding including TLS support.Proficiency with Sqlite3.Strong knowledge of bash which is used in many of the processes to support extensive customer customization and flexibility.Knowledge of Linux, AIX, Solaris, HP-UX, and Windows (using the bash shell from PTC, MKS) is preferred.Familiarity with AWS and Azure is beneficial.Knowledge of DevOps practices is preferred.Excellent problem-solving skills combined with the ability to clearly communicate questions and technical issues to Technical Support, Sales, and to the technical personnel at customer sites.
