Staff Software Engineer
Overview
As Staff Engineer for iOS, you will lead the architectural direction and engineering standards for the mobile buyer experience within a high-volume auction platform. You’ll mentor a distributed iOS team across locations and collaborate with product, backend, and design to ship features that drive revenue and improve user experience. Your role centers on reliability, security, and scalable mobile architecture in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. This is a hands-on leadership position with a clear impact on platform quality and delivery speed.

ResponsibilitiesLead the iOS architectural roadmap and deliver production-ready changesDefine and enforce iOS engineering standards (MVVM/Clean Architecture, feature flags, PR quality, release processes)Own the iOS CI/CD pipeline, test coverage, code signing, and App Store Connect releasesEnhance observability with crash analytics and performance monitoring to inform stability and UX decisionsDrive security hardening across the iOS codebase (Keychain, secrets management, audits, secure coding)Design and implement integrations for push notifications, deep/universal links, identity verification SDKs, and third-party platformsImprove software processes for reliability and quality; collaborate with backend/BFF teams on API/service designPartner with product/design to build a mobile-focused feature backlogSupport production incidents and coordinate hotfix releases for iOS
Key requirements8+ years of professional iOS engineering experience with 2+ years in Staff or equivalent leadershipDeep Swift and UIKit expertise; experience migrating UIKit to SwiftUI at scaleStrong knowledge of iOS architectures (MVVM, Router/Coordinator, Async/Await) and team-wide adoptionExperience owning iOS CI/CD (GitHub Actions, Xcode Cloud), App Store Connect, TestFlight, and release lifecycleHands-on with feature flag systems and staged rollout strategiesSolid understanding of iOS security, including Keychain, certificate pinning, secrets management, and App Transport SecurityExperience integrating push notification platforms (APNs, FCM, marketing platforms like SFMC or Braze)Proven ability to mentor engineers across levels/time zones and improve code quality via standards and reviewsStrong communication to explain tradeoffs to engineers and business stakeholdersmentorshipclear communicationcollaboration across cross-functional teamsSwiftUIKitSwiftUI
