Maintenance Technician at Dixon Family YMCA

YOUR IMPACTMaintenance Technician will perform ongoing maintenance and repairs in a manner that will provide excellent member service and a safe, clean and comfortable environment for all. Under general direction, this position will perform ongoing work of average to considerable difficulty performance of building maintenance to include the primary fields of electrical; heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC); carpentry; plumbing, pool maintenance etc.; and performs other tasks as assigned. WHAT YOUR DAY MAY LOOK LIKENo two days are the same in this role - but every day centers on keeping the facility safe, functional, and welcoming for members, staff, and the community. Start your morning reviewing work orders in Helix Intel and prioritizing preventive maintenance and urgent repair needs. Walk the facility to identify building or equipment issues before they become service disruptions - checking HVAC systems, lighting, doors, emergency exits, and high-traffic areas. Troubleshoot and repair carpentry, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical issues using hand and power tools. Clear a plumbing blockage, replace a faucet, repair a toilet, or install new piping components as needed. Analyze electrical circuits, replace lighting fixtures, install outlets, and test systems to maintain safe power and equipment operation. Patch and paint drywall, repair sheetrock, and preserve building surfaces to maintain a professional and safe environment. Perform pool maintenance checks and address chemical or mechanical concerns to ensure compliance and safety. Repair or replace damaged building materials, flooring, doors, windows, locks, or hardware to maintain security and functionality. Coordinate with vendors and contractors, oversee work quality, and obtain estimates or bids for upcoming projects. Order and stock supplies, materials, and parts to ensure readiness for both planned projects and emergency repairs. Maintain detailed documentation of completed work, materials used, and vendor services. Communicate clearly with supervisors and impacted departments about repair timelines and facility conditions. Inspect emergency lighting systems, safety equipment, and exits to ensure emergency preparedness. Apply knowledge of OSHA guidelines and SDS requirements when handling tools, chemicals, and materials. Train team members on preventive maintenance procedures and safety best practices. Respond promptly to unexpected maintenance issues - including after-hours emergency calls when necessary. Throughout your day, you help create a safe, inclusive, and welcoming environment where programs can run smoothly and members can focus on their health and well-being.
