Fellowship Opportunity in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic SurgeryOur organization is actively looking for a fellow specializing in Advanced Head & Neck Oncologic Surgery and Microvascular Reconstruction. This program spans one year and offers extensive hands-on experience, though we are open to two-year commitments depending on the fellow's career goals and research interests. Participation in mission electives is highly encouraged.Currently, our team includes eight full-time fellowship-trained Head & Neck surgical oncologists, five of whom are skilled in microvascular reconstruction. Additionally, two oncologic surgeons are based at our affiliated VA facility. The fellow will also benefit from the expertise of two endoscopic skull base surgeons, three facial plastic/reconstructive surgeons, and three laryngologists, enhancing their learning experience. The fellow will engage in advanced cases, which may include:Major head and neck ablative surgeriesMicrovascular reconstructionsTOLMS/TORS proceduresEndoscopic skull base surgeriesOpen and craniofacial surgeriesAdvanced trauma casesComplex skin cancer reconstructionsA balanced experience in both ablative and reconstructive surgery is essential, with the fellow's preferences influencing the specific case mix. The fellowship also encompasses thyroid and parathyroid surgeries, including minimally invasive approaches, re-operative procedures, and surgeries for non-localizing diseases.The fellow will collaborate with faculty at our institution, selecting cases with minimal oversight to ensure a fellow-directed and well-rounded experience. Teaching residents during surgeries and engaging in limited research activities are expected. Opportunities to assist at the VA or county hospital may also be available for those interested in specific cases.This surgical fellowship does not involve call or clinic duties, focusing solely on operative experience. This figure does not include variable compensation or additional productivity incentives and is subject to departmental compensation policies.
