Position Overview: The driver's primary responsibility is for the safe and timely transport of Schowalter Villa and Kidron Bethel Village residents to and from various destinations. These transports may include residents, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other transportation as deemed necessary. The driver is responsible for the overall cleanliness and safety of the assigned vehicle on a daily basis. The driver is responsible for communicating any safety concerns to the Director of Transportation. Essential Job Functions: Transport residents to scheduled destinationsObey all traffic laws and speed limits Adjust driving to weather conditions Review appointment book to be knowledgeable of appointment timesInspect vehicle and complete appropriate paperworkInspect healthcare van in compliance with state, federal, and facility policies Complete and processes necessary paperwork in compliance with state, federal, and facility policies Properly report any maintenance problems Keep a record of miles driven and number of residents each tripShow consideration for the residents' emotional and physical needsExhibit courtesy and patience at all times Assist residents when needed within scope of trainingEnsure passengers' safetyAppropriately use the wheelchair lift to load and unload passengers in wheelchairs Assure that all passengers' seat belts are safely buckled-up before driving Monitor residents while at appointments when necessary, ensuring that they are safe and in the appropriate placeFacilitate communication between healthcare staff and outside health professionalsConvey paperwork and other communication between appropriate parties, such as from nursing staff to outside doctors and dentists, and then back to the facilityQualificationsQualifications and Experience: Must be eighteen (18) years of age Must have a valid driver's license with no violations for at least the past three years Must have valid automobile insurance with no encumberments Must be responsible, accountable, dependable, and flexible Must enjoy working with the elderly and be able to understand their needs Must be able to speak and write English Physical Requirements:Medium Work Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly.
