Field Service Technician for Generator Systems (5 Yrs Experience Required)
Role Summary:
The Field Service Technician plays a vital role in ensuring the reliability and performance of generator systems. This position is responsible for comprehensive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on a wide range of generators, while delivering outstanding customer service and maintaining meticulous records of all activities.
Essential Duties:
Preventive Maintenance & Inspections: Conduct thorough preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal functionality of generators.
Troubleshooting & Diagnostics: Perform advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic testing on alternators, wiring harnesses, safety devices, shutdown switches, and battery systems.
Load-Bank Testing: Execute load-bank testing with a deep understanding of both reactive and resistive testing principles to verify generator performance.
Generator Controls Expertise: Demonstrate proficiency in Automatic Transfer Switch (ATS) systems and generator control mechanisms to enhance operational efficiency.
Engine Repair & Troubleshooting: Diagnose and repair a variety of engines including Kohler, Cummins, Cat, Detroit Diesel, John Deere, Doosan, MTU, and Volvo, utilizing your extensive mechanical background.
Customer Communication: Effectively communicate technical issues and solutions to customers with varying levels of expertise in a professional and courteous manner.
Collaboration & Mentoring: Foster a collaborative environment by mentoring junior technicians, sharing expertise, and promoting best practices in generator maintenance and repair.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed records of all services performed, including expenses and billable hours, to ensure transparency and accountability.
Flexibility & Adaptability: Be prepared to take on additional duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility in a dynamic work environment.
Requirements/Experience:
Experience: Minimum of 5 years in servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and troubleshooting of generators and engines across various fuel types, including transfer switches and switch gear.
Mechanical & Electrical Skills: Strong mechanical aptitude complemented by a thorough understanding of mechanical and electrical theory and applications.
Diagnostic Proficiency: Experience with Electrician's Volts Multimeter and adeptness in reading wiring schematics and blueprints.
Computer Skills: Proficient in using computers and field service software to document work and manage records.
Work Environment: Ability to work effectively under pressure in all weather conditions, with a commitment to safety and compliance with OSHA regulations.
Independence & Initiative: Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating excellent time management and organizational skills.
Travel & Shift Flexibility: Willingness to travel and work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, while participating in on-call rotations.
Valid Certification: Must possess a valid and clean Florida Driver’s License and be able to verify eligibility to work in the United States.
