The Encompass Group is partnered with a well respected heavy civil and utility contractor based in Alexandria, Virginia that is looking to add a seasonedUtility Estimatorto their growing team. For decades, the company has built a strong reputation across the Mid-Atlantic region for delivering high-quality sitework, underground utility, and civil construction projects with integrity and precision. Key Responsibilities Prepare detailed cost estimates for underground utility and civil/sitework projects Perform quantity takeoffs using digital estimating software Review plans, specifications, and contract documents Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing Participate in bid strategy meetings and proposal preparation Coordinate with project management and operations teams for project handoff Support value engineering efforts and cost analysis Optional: Represent the company at networking events and industry functions Qualifications Civil construction estimating experience (general construction experience considered) Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and bid processes Proficiency with PlanSwift (preferred), HCSS HeavyBid, and Agtek Strong analytical and organizational skills Excellent communication skills Ability to work full-time in the Alexandria, VA office Preferred: Experience in underground utilities and broader sitework Preferred: Interest in business development and networking Compensation & Benefits Competitive salary based on experience 401(k) with company match Vehicle allowance and gas card Health, dental, and vision insurance Short-term disability insurance Long-term growth opportunity within a stable, respected company
