Lead Electrical Engineer – Protection & Controls (Substation Design)
Location: Houston, TX (Hybrid)
Overview
Lead Protection & Controls (P&C) engineering for substation projects supporting transmission, distribution, and renewable energy systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop design deliverables including relay settings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and logic diagrams
Perform and review protection coordination studies and relay settings
Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources
Interface with clients, vendors, and internal teams
Perform QA/QC and mentor junior engineers
Core Duties
Prepare and review complex P&C engineering designs and calculations
Select and specify protection relays, control systems, and related equipment
Support commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting activities
Ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements
Lead small teams or specific project components
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
5+ years of experience in Protection & Controls for substations
Preferred
Strong experience with relay protection schemes (line, transformer, bus, feeder)
Hands‑on experience with relay settings and coordination studies
Familiarity with major relay vendors (e.g., SEL, GE, Siemens)
PE license or working toward it
Strong communication and leadership skills
