Job Title: Phlebotomist IIJob DescriptionAs a Phlebotomist II, you will play a crucial role in assisting with various duties, troubleshooting, training, and recommending workflow improvements. This position involves performing blood draws, labeling specimens, updating patient information, and ensuring specimen integrity according to established procedures.Responsibilities+ Perform blood draws and properly label specimens.+ Centrifuge specimens and record maintenance data.+ Decontaminate equipment and update patient information.+ Collect and store specimens according to established procedures.+ Clearly explain the venipuncture and specimen collection process to patients.+ Demonstrate techniques using straight or butterfly needles.+ Understand and execute all physician orders accurately.+ Match laboratory requisition forms with specimen tubes.+ Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required.+ Ensure test requisitions match scripts for accuracy.+ Package specimens for transport and maintain specimen integrity.+ Comply with OSHA and DEP regulations.+ Attend annual department training sessions.+ Handle telephone inquiries and read laboratory results when necessary.Essential Skills+ Valid Phlebotomy certification for the state of employment.+ Minimum of 6 months' work experience in a fast-paced lab or hospital setting.+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.+ High School Diploma or GED.+ 2-4 years of phlebotomy experience.Additional Skills & Qualifications+ Experience drawing blood from all age groups.+ Strong customer service skills.+ Experience in specimen processing and diagnostic lab work.Work EnvironmentThis position requires working Monday to Friday from 7:00 am to 3:30 pm.
