Building Technology Design Engineer (Telecommunications / AV / Security)OverviewWe are seeking a Building Technology Design Engineer to support the planning, design, and coordination of integrated building technology systems. This role focuses on delivering high‑quality designs for telecommunications, IT infrastructure, audiovisual, and electronic safety and security systems across a variety of building types.The ideal candidate is passionate about building systems and enjoys collaborating closely with architects, engineers, and clients to bring technology designs from concept through construction.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign building technology systems including information technology infrastructure, telecommunications, electronic safety and security, and audiovisual systemsPrepare Needs Assessment reports and technical documentationDevelop construction documents, including design drawings and CSI‑format specificationsSupport project lifecycle planning, including scope development, scheduling, and coordinationManage technical scope and fee budgets for assigned projectsPerform and document site surveys and field investigationsAttend and actively participate in project and coordination meetingsCommunicate and coordinate design solutions with clients, design teams, consultants, and vendorsIntegrate building technology systems with other intelligent building and smart building platformsSupport construction-phase coordination and respond to field conditions as neededRequired QualificationsBachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Electronic Security Systems, Audiovisual Systems, or a related discipline4–5 years of experience designing building technology systems within architectural or engineering consulting environmentsDemonstrated experience designing:Public Address systemsConference room and collaboration AV systemsDigital signage and educational AV systemsStrong background in telecommunications system design, including outside plant and data center environmentsWorking knowledge of Video Surveillance, Access Control, and Intrusion Detection systemsStrong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical design concepts clearlyExperience using AutoCAD and/or RevitHigh proficiency in Microsoft OfficeExperience working directly with clients and multidisciplinary design teamsPreferred QualificationsExperience designing integrated intelligent or smart building systemsIndustry certifications are a plus but not required:CTS‑DBICSI RCDDCisco CCNAASIS certificationsJob Type & LocationThis is a Permanent position based out of New York, NY.Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $40.00 - $60.00/hr.RequirementsEligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
