The Surface Training Systems (STS) Program Office is the OPNAV single point of contact for strategic program planning, policy, acquisition, life-cycle management, research and development, and technical insertion into all existing and future Navy Surface Training Systems. Join the Serco team as we work to transform Navy training for the Sailor 2025 vision. This position is located at Norfolk Naval Station on regular basis. Therefore, flexibility to hybrid work schedule is required.This position supports NAVSEA in the acquisition, stand-up and lifecycle support for new combat systems, high-tech trainers for the Navy. Develops and evaluates plans for training systems supporting modernization, new construction acquisition programs. Assesses and recommends the feasibility of proposed approaches to solve problems.  Requires Navy surface ship navigational systems and navigation trainer experience. The ideal candidate will also be knowledgeable of Navy operational mission areas and training system requirements. You will be part of the Surface Training Systems (STS) Team (PMS 339), that works closely with the US Navy, and other Serco teams, to deliver quality training systems support. This team is recognized by the Navy and the industry for their outstanding contributions to our ultimate customer, the US Navy Sailor.In this role you will: Provide direct support to the Navigation/Engineering PAPM. Facilitate Navigation/Engineering meetings on behalf of the PAPM. Provide program management and training system acquisition guidance for Surface Ship Navigation and training systems as needed. Coordinate with navigation systems and training system acquisition stakeholders to support Planning, Programming, Budgeting & Execution (PPBE) process in support of requirements, development, delivery, and sustainment of Surface Training Systems as required by the Department of Defense 5000.2 series and OPNAV instructions for Warfare Chairs. Develop and maintain project status briefs, trackers and other project management tools to monitor and report cost, schedule, performance and risk related to Navigation Training System Acquisition projects. Make recommendations for training requirements and advise the Mission Area Chair on defending the requirements to the Surface Expeditionary Warfare Training Committee (SEWTC) and the resource sponsor. Assist in the development of financial planning and budget forecasts for system acquisition and sustainment.  This position specializes in the planning, acquisition, activation and sustainment of Navy Training Systems and Installations.  QualificationsTo be successful in this role, you must have: An Active DoD Issued Secret Clearance. Bachelor’s degree, plus 8 years directly relevant work experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. US Navy Staff Level briefing experience. Navy Operational / Navy Training experience and/or Navy DOD Experience. Expert level experience with Microsoft applications, especially PowerPoint, Word and Excel. Flexible for up to 10% travel. Desired : Surface Training Systems experience. Surface Warfare Officers and Surface Warfare Qualified Enlisted experience. Master Training Specialist (MTS) or Former Navy Instructor experience. Experience with Bridge Trainers, and/or Virtualized training. Afloat Training Group Experience. Finish Experience in Acquisition Program Management and/or Navy Project Management.
