Apply via Dice today!Role : Layout Engineer – Industrial Engineering / Factory & Site DesignLocation : Pittsburgh ,PAKey ResponsibilitiesLead factory and site layout design across manufacturing lines, warehouse/storage areas, material flow, people flow, and support spaces. Develop long-term site master plans to support phased expansion and scalability. Define and implement layout governance, drafting standards, visual factory standards, and layout change management processes. Create and maintain block layouts and detailed 2D/3D layouts aligned with Plan of Record (POR) and operational requirements. Design and optimize end-to-end material flow including inbound logistics, WIP flow, and outbound finished goods movement. Manage overall site layout including building placement, dock strategy, truck movement, yard flow, utilities, and infrastructure planning. Optimize dock utilization, transportation interfaces, and yard logistics efficiency. Collaborate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Facilities, Construction, Operations, and EHS teams to ensure seamless execution. Perform data-driven analysis to improve space utilization, throughput, labor productivity, and operational efficiency. Develop and integrate PFEP (Plan for Every Part) into layout and storage strategies. Define and track layout KPIs including aisle utilization, bottlenecks, throughput, and flow distances. Support capacity planning using OEE, takt time, cycle time analysis, and throughput simulations. Drive factory densification initiatives and eliminate non-value-added movement. Support installation, commissioning, and validation activities during construction and production ramp-up phases. Present layout strategies and operational insights to leadership and stakeholders. Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 7+ years of experience in factory layout planning, industrial engineering, or manufacturing systems. Experience working in large-scale manufacturing environments such as automotive, battery, energy, or heavy industry. Strong understanding of facility planning, site layout, material flow, and manufacturing operations. Hands-on experience with warehouse flow and manufacturing optimization. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
