This role is not a fit for litigators who have stepped away from trial work or who require significant supervision.About The OpportunityA trial-focused insurance defense firm headquartered in Syracuse is expanding its Long Island presence and needs a senior attorney to lead its Uniondale satellite office. You will have the caseload, carrier clients, support staff, and firm infrastructure while running the office. Two junior associates and a support staffer will report to you, and firm leadership will provide strategic support while allowing you autonomy. The firm emphasizes winning at trial, not settling by default, and maintains an active docket. If you seek a practice with frequent courtroom work, this is an excellent opportunity.What You'll Be DoingOwn a full insurance defense caseload across labor law, construction litigation, premises liability, motor vehicle, property damage, and general liability matters in the NYC metro areaManage all phases of litigation independently from day one: pleadings, discovery, depositions, motion practice, mediations, and trialsLead the Uniondale satellite office as the senior attorney on the ground – supervise and mentor two junior associates and one support staff memberAppear regularly in state and local courts throughout the NYC metropolitan area and surrounding regions on behalf of insurance carrier clientsOperate with significant autonomy over day-to-day office management while coordinating with firm leadership in SyracuseContribute to and strengthen a trial-focused culture – the firm tries cases on a weekly and monthly cadenceWhat We're Looking For6–10+ years of insurance defense litigation experience with a proven record of trying casesActive New York State Bar admission in good standingAbility to manage a full, diverse liability docket independently from the startExperience with NY Labor Law (including 240/241), construction, premises liability, and general liability defense preferredLeadership instincts and comfort being the most senior attorney on-siteIndependent practitioners or solo attorneys seeking built-in infrastructure and a full pipeline are encouraged to applyJ-18808-Ljbffr
