Why This Role Matters
As a Market Services Analyst I, you'll help keep critical energy and gas transportation operations running smoothly. In this entry-level analyst role, you'll support data, systems, and reporting that enable informed decisions across fuel procurement, gas transportation, and market operations. You'll work closely with internal teams and technology partners, gain hands‑on experience with enterprise systems, and build a strong foundation for a career in energy, analytics, or market operations.
What You'll Do
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys problem‑solving, data, and learning how systems support real‑world operations.
Support market, gas transportation, and trading systems used by internal teams
Gather business needs and help create reports and data analyses that support daily operations
Generate ad‑hoc reports using internal and external data sources
Assist with testing system updates and documenting results
Provide first‑level support for system and technology questions
Help maintain daily market and gas strategy reports
Participate in emergency preparedness planning to ensure business continuity
Collaborate with IT, vendors, and internal users to resolve system or data issues
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you'll be successful when you:
Accurately produce reports that support gas transportation and market activities
Build a strong understanding of core systems and business processes
Respond to user questions and system issues with confidence and professionalism
Contribute to testing, documentation, and process improvements
Become a trusted support partner to internal stakeholders
What You'll Bring (Required Qualifications)
We're looking for strong fundamentals and a willingness to learn.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution (business, technology, analytics, or related field)
At least 1 year of related technical or systems experience, such as: Application or systems support Database Design Comfort working with data, systems, and reports
Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
Ability to communicate clearly with technical and non‑technical users
Nice to Have (Preferred Qualifications)
These are helpful but not required.
Experience in the natural gas industry
Knowledge of energy industry including commodity trading and settlement

Peoples Gas depends on each team member to fulfill their primary and/or alternate roles and responsibilities during such incidents. As a Team Member of Peoples Gas, you will be assigned an Incident Response Assignment, receive training related to your role, and may participate in mock drills or exercises simulating various emergency scenarios.
