Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA)To provide basic nursing care to non-acute and/or acutely ill residents while maintaining a safe and clean environment. The role requires the ability to react calmly and make sound judgments within the scope of duties when caring for ill patients/residents and during emergencies. Regular lifting of non-ambulatory patients/residents is required. A caring attitude is essential when dealing with both acute and non-acute patients/residents and their families. The job pace is rapid, with constant pressure to complete nursing assignments and respond to patient call lights. Accountability for all actions taken is required. Delegation from a supervising licensed nurse will be accepted and followed. Accountabilities include:Obtaining nursing data through interviewing and observing residents under a licensed nurse's direction.Documenting observation findings that are consistent with other providers under a licensed nurse's supervision.Providing general nursing care for the adult and geriatric population, including but not limited to: bed baths, oral hygiene, dressing patients, and applying heat and cold therapies.Monitoring and recording vital signs, weight, blood sugar, and other measurements as required.Collecting and transporting specimens to the correct departments and reporting any abnormal findings to the licensed nurse.Providing bedside care, such as positioning and ambulating residents.Assisting residents with meals and personal care needs.Maintaining a safe and clean environment by preparing nursing areas and assisting with cleaning duties.Reporting equipment issues to the nurse manager or charge nurse as necessary.Performing supply duties on a daily basis to maintain stock levels in assigned units.Disposing of waste according to organizational policies.Replenishing supplies in resident rooms and bathrooms as needed.Other duties may include: Obtaining 12-lead Electrocardiograms (ECGs). Training and performing telemetry monitoring of patients. Becoming a Point of Care Trainer within three months of obtaining CNA II. Cross-training to additional areas of the facility to ensure staffing fluidity. Initiating and participating in Performance/Process Improvement projects within the unit.
