Work Location 8251 International Dr, Columbus, Indiana 47201, United States Pay Type Hourly Job Description Responsible for machining required parts/details to stated dimensions per drawings and/or verbal requests.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, manuals, specifications, or sample part to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work piece, sequence of operations, and setup requirementsMeasures, marks, and scribes dimensions and reference points on material or work piece as guides for subsequent machiningSelects, aligns, and secures holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials on manual machines such as mills, lathes, surface grinders, drill sharpener, tool post grinder and shapersCalculates and sets controls to regulate machining factors such as speed, feed, coolant flow, and depth and angle of cutStarts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining, and adjusts machine as requiredVerifies conformance of finished work piece to specificationsSets up and operates machine on trial run to verify accuracy of machine settingsFits and assembles parts into complete assemblyVerifies dimensions and alignment of assembly - Installs machined replacement parts in mechanisms, machines, and equipment, and tests operation of unit to ensure functionality and performanceOperates welding equipment to cut or weld partsOperates metal cutting band saws and chop sawsDevelops specifications from general description and draws sketch of part or product to be machined or fabricatedConfers with Maintenance Supervisor, Maintenance Leads, Maintenance Techs, Engineers, production personnel or others to resolve machining or related problemsREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EDUCATION, AND ABILITIES: 3-5 Years of Machining or a related fieldHigh school or Trade school machine shop diploma or equivalentMust work with moving mechanical partsAble to work overtime and any schedule needed for production supportStrong organizational skills and ability to follow instructionsMust be able to lift up to 50 lbs., repeatedly if necessaryAble to walk and/or stand for extended periods of timeAble to sit, kneel, squat or bend, for long lengths of timesAbility to meet daily, weekly and monthly deadlines
