Pre-K - 12 Math & Science Coordinator

PRIMARY PURPOSE:The K-12 Math Coordinator supports the implementation of high-quality mathematics andscience instruction across the district. The position worksclosely with the Director of Teaching and Learning to support alignment, curriculum, andinstructional practices. This role collaborates with campus leaders, instructionalcoaches, and teachers to improve curriculum implementation, build teacher capacity, and booststudent achievement. The Math/Science Coordinator will participate in designing, updating, and evaluating the curriculum and district assessments to ensure that professional development opportunities meet students' academic needs.All employees of Dayton ISD are expected to act with integrity, support the organizationalgoals, communicate clearly and respectfully, and champion our students.continuous improvement.QUALIFICATIONS:Education/CertificationBachelor's degree from an accredited college or university (Master's preferred).Valid Texas teaching certificate with the required endorsementsLeadership experienceMinimum of 5 years teaching experience in elementary grades, preferably in math and/or science.Texas mid-management or other appropriate Texas certificateSpecial Knowledge/SkillsExperience in curriculum development, instructional coaching, and teacher professionaldevelopment, including the implementation and support of HQIM (High Quality Instructional Materials) (preferred).Strong knowledge of Pre-K-5 math and science standards, HQIM (High Quality Instructional Materials), curriculum alignment, and assessment practices.Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.Demonstrated ability to analyze data and implement strategies to improve studentlearning.Key Responsibilities:Instructional LeadershipSupport the implementation and alignment of math and science curricula withstate and district standards.Collaborate with teachers to develop lesson plans, instructional strategies, and assessments that promote student engagement and mastery.Analyze assessment data to guide instructional improvements and interventions.Serve as a key member of the Teaching and Learning team, partnering with the Directorof Teaching and Learning to support district priorities, instructional improvement, andvertical alignment in math and science, Pre-K through grade 12.Professional DevelopmentPlan and facilitate professional learning for teachers in math and science.Provide professional development and coaching for teachers to strengthen math and science instruction and improve student outcomes.Support principals and instructional coaches in observing and evaluating effectiveinstructional practices.Program Coordination & CollaborationCollaborate extensively with the Director of Teaching and Learning to ensure verticalalignment of curriculum, instructional practices, and assessments for math and science.Assist with resource selection and classroom materials that support evidence-basedinstruction.Coordinate special projects, initiatives, and pilot programs in math and science.Assessment & AccountabilitySupport the administration and interpretation of formative and summative assessments.Monitor and analyze student data to help campuses identify instructional needs, interventions, and targeted supports in elementary math and science.Prepare reports and communicate findings to district leadership.Other Responsibilities:Stay current with research and best practices in math and science education.Participate in district-level committees and initiatives related to teaching and learning.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Teaching and Learning.Core Competencies:Instructional leadership and coachingData-driven decision-makingCollaboration and teamworkEffective communication with teachers, principals, and district leadersCommitment to equity and student achievementOther:Attendance is an essential job functionPerform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisorWORKING CONDITIONS:Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsThe usual and customary methods of performing the job's functionsrequire the following physical demands: physical mobility, standing,prolonged sitting, some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling.
