Autobody PainterLocation: Allen Park, MI 48101Duration: 3+ Months Contract with Possibility of extension and FTE (Long term role!!!)Shift: 6am to 2:30pm Monday - Friday, OT as neededNote: Need 1 painter for Flat Rock and 2 for Sterling Heights MIJob DescriptionEssential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.Surfacing prototype automotive components and vehiclesWorking with a variety of materials to meet customer needsPaying close attention to details and procedures to maintain high quality standards for painted partsRead hazard labels and other required informationDistinguish colorsRead, understand and comply with safety rules and regulationsOperate industrial pneumatic equipment (openers, crusher, mixers, etc)Operate manual and power tools (drills, hammers, screwdrivers, ratchets, wrenches, etc)Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalentMinimum 5 years' experience in the Autobody/Paint fieldMust have own tools and rolling lockable tool boxMust have strong attention to detail as an Auto Body & Paint TechnicianWilling to Travel between buildingsMust be available to work overtime/weekends when neededMust be a self-starter and self-motivatedMust have good organizational skillsPreferred SkillsGap and Margin experience with automotive panels for Show Car quality.Body Shop ability for detail panel surfacing.Show Car painting experience.Physical Demands/Working Conditions:Lift at least 60 pounds without assistance.Work in a physically-demanding, fast-paced, wet environment for 6-8 hours per day.Wear protective clothing and equipment daily. This includes coveralls, safety glasses or goggles, and gloves.May exposed daily to contaminants, such as fumes from paint and solvents. The use of protective masks and adequate ventilation may reduce exposure risk.May be exposed to hazardous tools, equipment, and situations. There is some possibility of slight injury. However, injuries are reduced when safety equipment and procedures are used.May be exposed to noise levels that are distracting and uncomfortable. Wearing ear protection can reduce discomfort.Must often work in cramped places that require getting into awkward positions.
