Speech Language PathologistJOB STATUS: OPEN POSTING DATE: 03/20/2026 POSTING NUMBER: 052361 LOCATION: Admin Special Education - 877 POSITION TITLE: Speech Language PathologistJOB DESCRIPTION:Plan and provide speech-language pathology services to students with articulation, voice, fluency or language disorders. Assess students and provide therapeutic intervention to remediate speech and/or language disabilities that interfere with the students' ability to access the full benefit from the educational program. Develop Individualized Education Plans (IEP) in compliance with Federal/state law and local district policy and procedures.DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:Complete independent multi-disciplinary evaluations to assess students to determine the presence of a speech impairment/disorder.Provide appropriate therapy to students consistent with speech and language goals contained in the Individual Education Plans (IEP).Evaluate student progress and make determinations regarding therapy services.Conduct/Participate in the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee. Assist in interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement, and goal setting for students with communication disorders according to district procedures.Collaborate with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the mastery and progress of therapy goals, the needs of the student, and involvement in the therapeutic process.Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students and generalization of skills in the academic setting.Provide professional development in assigned schools to help school personnel identify and work more effectively with students with communication disorders.Create an environment conducive to learning and provide positive behavioral supports to students.Ensure students follow the Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.Develop a system for monitoring student progress (data collection).Participate in the selection of equipment and instructional materials.Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other required documents.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws and board policy.Comply with all district and campus routines and regulations.May supervise licensed speech-language pathology assistant(s) or intern(s).Participate in professional development activities to improve skills related to job assignment and licensing requirements.Maintain regular attendance.Perform other duties as assigned.EXPERIENCE:* Graduate of ASHA recommended programQUALIFICATIONS:Education/Certification:* Master's degree in communication sciences and disorders from an accredited college or university* Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist granted by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR)Special Knowledge/Skills:Ability to use standardized tests and informal measures to determine the presence of a speech impairment/disorderKnowledge of evaluation and treatment of speech-language disordersExcellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skillsCONTACT INFORMATION:SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: May direct and monitor the work of Speech Language Pathology Assistant(s) or intern(s).Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environment Factors:Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripheralsPosture: Frequent sitting, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twistingMotion: Frequent walking, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extensionLifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (under 15 pounds), occasional heaving lifting (45 pounds or more) and positioning of students with physical disabilities; controlling behavior through physical restraint; assisting non-ambulatory studentsEnvironment: May require districtwide travelMental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under pressureSupervisors of licensed Speech Language Pathology Assistant(s) or intern(s) must be licensed by ASHA & TDLR as Speech Language Pathologists and completed 2 hours of education in supervision.APPLY TO:To apply for this position, click "login" above.
