Benefits Manager
Job Summary:
As a Benefits Manager, you will play a critical role in maintaining first-in-class benefits and leave programs for multiple and diverse employers for which Crosby provides human resources support services. In partnership with the Total Rewards Principal, you will be responsible for the strategy, design, development, and execution of the benefits philosophy as well as different benefit and leave programs for the multiple employers. Also, you will serve as administrator of the benefits systems, plans and programs, performing day-to-day functions relating to the benefits. As a member of the Human Resources team, you will use your experience to drive operational and professional excellence to elevate the employee experience.
POSITION DUTIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Benefits Administration
Leads, develops, and maintains first-in-class benefits programs including monitoring and reporting on workplace trends, costs and value, utilization rates for benefits plans by employees of each employer, and making recommendations for changes and/or enhancements of benefits and benefits programs
Administers all health and welfare benefits plans, programs, and policies for all employers
Develops and implements a comprehensive communication strategy for benefits programs, including all onboarding and open enrollment processes
Administers new employee enrollment in all benefits plans, and ensures “white glove” service for all new employee enrollments; develops and executes new employee orientation to benefits
Maintains and administers program to respond to and track all employee inquiries regarding benefits, including:
Answering employees’ benefits inquiries in any accurate and timely manner
Conducting or coordinating education sessions that offer a compelling experience and ensuring that employees capitalize on all their employer’s offerings
Supporting the communication and education strategy through the use of technology
Develops and leads the process for all benefits related requests for proposals/negotiation with vendors of all health and welfare benefits
Conducts and administers the Annual Benefits Open Enrollment processes, including employee communications and informational meetings
Responsible for compliance of all health and welfare benefits with applicable law including, COBRA, ERISA, state-specific COBRA laws, etc.
Serves as liaison with all insurance and benefits vendors and all internal Human Resources function, including payroll, to ensure timely and accurate information is communicated and that benefits are administered accurately
Leave Administration
Responsible for administration of and employee communications regarding all leave programs in multiple states for all employers, including FMLA, MA PFML and ME FMLA
Responsible for administration of and employee communications regarding all wage replacement benefits during leaves for all employers, including workers’ compensation, short- and long-term disability insurance benefits, MA PFML private insurance benefits, and soon to be paid Maine FMLA benefits
Responsible for all required documentation and notices regarding leaves of absence, including FMLA and ADA documentation
Responsible for compliance with all applicable laws regarding health and welfare benefits, including ERISA, COBRA, etc.
Administers and manages all documentation and tracking of leaves; communicates with employees regarding leaves, status, and return to work issues
Analytics
Responsible for gathering, tracking, and analyzing benefits data and advising Human Resources Leadership and Management regarding benefits at each employer
Generates reports using HRIS data and ADP
Performs quality control activities to confirm accuracy of data regarding benefits in all systems
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field
10+ years of experience in developing and administering benefits plans, including hands-on experience in creating and administering innovative benefits programs
2+ years of leading and managing a benefits strategy for multiple employers or entities
Experience with diverse client groups with overlapping ownership
One or more of the following is a plus:
Certified Benefits Professional (CBP)
SHRM-CP Certification
Skills and Knowledge
Familiarity and experience working with HRIS systems, preferably ADP Workforce Now
Working knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including ERISA, ACA, COBRA, FMLA, state-specific leave statutes, etc.
Intermediate or Advanced level expertise in Microsoft Excel
Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of products
Expertise in benefits and leave administration
