Partnering with school districts nationwide, our dropout recovery and student re-engagement programs are supported by cutting-edge technology and a commitment to compassionate, impactful teaching.The RoleAs a Career Coach, you will serve as a key learning and support resource for our Graduation Candidates (GCs), helping them master the academic and career-readiness skills necessary for graduation and post-secondary success. You will guide students through a competency-based blended curriculum while leading the development of Personalized Learning Plans and supporting them in achieving academic milestones, career goals, and college or workforce readiness.Key ResponsibilitiesEnrollmentLead the development of Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) tailored to each student’s unique goalsGuide students in creating class schedules to meet attendance and academic requirementsAssign courses in accordance with the PLPRetentionCollaborate with support teams to ensure consistent student attendance and engagementActively participate in the Retention Cycle ProtocolAddress barriers that impede student participation in the academyAdvocate for and support site-level incentive programsAcademicsSchedule, coordinate, and oversee all local, state, and national standardized examsDevelop and monitor post-secondary plans for students, including career and college pathwaysFacilitate workshops focused on career planning, job readiness, and life skillsSupport students in developing resumes, cover letters, and interview strategiesAssist students with college applications, financial aid, and career researchMaintain awareness of local workforce trends and incorporate relevant insights into student planningBuild partnerships with career pathway programs, including job fairs, shadowing, and internship opportunitiesProvide academic and career counseling tailored to individual student needsAdvocacyStay current on employment trends and workforce development resourcesRepresent the academy at networking events and community functionsParticipate actively in academy-wide meetings and planning sessionsPerform additional responsibilities as needed to support academy goalsWhat We’re Looking ForEducation: Bachelor’s degree required, Masters' preferredCertification: South Carolina educator’s license with a School Counseling endorsement (REQUIRED)Experience: 3+ years of relevant experienceSkills: Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; a passion for mentoring and coaching youthPassion: A deep commitment to supporting high school-aged students who have disengaged from traditional schooling and empowering them to achieve academic and personal breakthroughsPreferred QualificationsBilingual (Spanish preferred)Experience working in non-traditional or alternative education settingsFamiliarity with ESE (Exceptional Student Education), ELL (English Language Learners), and behavior intervention practicesExperience in transcript review and understanding of graduation requirementsProficient with technology in educational settingsExposure to project-based learning, instructional coaching, competency-based education, or cross-disciplinary teachingWhy Join Us?Being part of Acceleration Academies means joining a team dedicated to transforming student outcomes.
