Accountant Specialist/ Project Accountant

A great UHY client is seeking an Accountant to manage accounting and operational finance activities within a growing luxury custom home building organization. This role is responsible for customer billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, job costing, month end close and a variety of general accounting and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will thrive in a fast-paced, client-focused environment and possess strong communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.The Accountant role is a fully onsite position based in Bloomfield Hills, MI. This is a permanent, direct-hire opportunity offering strong compensation, bonus potential, and the opportunity to play a highly visible role within a growing organization.Accountant ResponsibilitiesPrepare customer invoices, progress billings, change orders, and sworn statementsManage accounts receivable, collections, and customer account reconciliationsProcess vendor invoices, subcontractor payments, reimbursements, and weekly check runsMaintain accurate job cost records, budgets, and cash flow trackingAssist with month-end close, payroll support, and financial reportingCoordinate with project managers on project budgets and costsMaintain vendor files, W-9s, and insurance compliance documentationReview certificates of insurance (COIs) and monitor subcontractor complianceAccountant RequirementsAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred3+ years of accounting/bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction or project-based environmentsStrong knowledge of AP/AR, job costing, and general accounting principlesExperience with construction accounting software and Microsoft ExcelExcellent organizational, communication, and multitasking skillsPreferred ExperienceResidential construction or luxury home buildingConstruction draws, lien waivers, and sworn statement billingSage or similar accounting/project management systemsConstruction insurance and risk management knowledgeUHY Advisors' Resource Solutions Group provides clients with accomplished professionals to support finance, accounting, internal audit and tax teams.
