Distribution Warehouse Manager

POSITION TITLE: Distribution Warehouse ManagerRESPONSIBLE TO: Senior Manager of OperationsHRS PER WEEK: 40 hrs./wk. with some weekends and evening hoursCLASS: ExemptCOMPENSATION: $63,900 - $65,700, depending on experienceBENEFITS: Eligible for health, vision, and dental insurance the first of the month following 30 days of employment with other benefits eligibility after a 90-day mutual introductory period is completed.SUMMARY OF POSITION: The ideal candidate for this position is strongly motivated by Food for Lane County’s mission and serving others; prioritizes customer service and collaboration; brings a positive, can-do attitude to daily work challenges; can balance competing work demands with composure and accountability to achieve desired results; thrives when working as a member of a team; enjoys being a teacher and trainer; and has a past history of demonstrating excellent supervisory and volunteer management skills. The candidate must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with constant interruptions and be very comfortable meeting multiple requests, making quick and sound decisions, and keeping all appropriate team members regularly informed of changes.The main responsibilities of this position include overall management of FFLC’s West Broadway warehouse operations to ensure the timely and efficient movement of donated food. This position provides supervision to warehouse staff, and volunteers, ensures that food is handled safely and accurately tracked and distributed, and is a main customer service representative for donors and partner agencies.PRIMARY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervision of Staff and VolunteersPromotes a positive work environment grounded in FFLC’s values of compassion, inclusion, and collaboration; leads by exampleHires, trains, supervises, and supports a team of Operations staffProvides coaching, performance feedback, and professional development opportunitiesSupervises and supports volunteers with a wide range of abilities and experienceWarehouse Operations and Inventory ManagementEnsures timely and efficient movement of donated productsOversees order builds for partner agencies and allocation of perishable productsMaintains accurate inventory control, data tracking, and record-keeping systemsCompletes daily and monthly inventory control proceduresMaintains files and required documentation related to food distribution and donationsFood Safety and ComplianceEnsures safe food handling practices at all timesMaintains compliance with OSHA, Oregon Food Bank, OHA, and other applicable regulationsEnsures regular cleaning and sanitation of all workspacesReports maintenance or equipment needs as they ariseCoordination and CommunicationWorks closely with the Bailey Hill Warehouse Manager, Food Resourcing team, and Programs teams to determine product feasibility, storage, and distributionDemonstrates excellent customer service and communication with donors, volunteers, and partnersKeeps appropriate team members informed of operational changesOTHER TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:Attends all required meetingsEngages in ongoing process improvement, planning and development with other FFLC staffWorks collaboratively with the Bailey Hill Warehouse Manager to cross-train enough department staff to ensure that all warehouse positions have backup coverageOperates and maintains warehouse equipment and company vehicles in a safe mannerMaintains general organization and cleanliness both inside the warehouse as well as the outer parking lot and dock areasRepresents Food for Lane County to the public with knowledge and respectMaintains neat and clean personal appearancePerforms other tasks as requestedSKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS: We value all forms of experience including, unpaid work, lived experience, education, and training.Education and/or training relevant to the position, particularly experience with warehousing, people management, and food safetyAt least three years’ experience working in a supervisory capacityProficiency with Microsoft Office and standard office equipmentExperience with inventory control systems & procedures; demonstrates sound inventory tracking and record-keeping skillsAbility to learn Primarius, a food inventory system and other softwareExperience with facilities and equipment management preferredAble to follow standard procedures and creatively solve problems when neededAbility to safely perform strenuous and repetitive physical labor, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds repetitively and occasionally lifting and moving objects up to 75 poundsAbility to safely push and pull pallets up to 2,000 pounds while operating a pallet jackMust be able to operate vehicles, forklifts and other material handling equipmentAble to supervise volunteers with a wide range of abilities and experienceExhibits compassion and respect for the recipients of FFLC’s servicesAble to simultaneously oversee multiple activities and responsibilitiesExcellent verbal and written communication skillsHold a current Food Handlers Card, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hireMust have a valid Oregon’s Driver’s license and qualify for insurance coverage with Food for Lane County’s insurance carrierWORKING CONDITIONS:Work is typically performed in an office/warehouse environment, with occasional off-site food drive attendance in all types of settingsAssists as a back-up driver and in the warehouse, performing strenuous and repetitive physical laborOccasional requirement to work outside of regular hours, such as evenings and weekends*All offers of employment are contingent upon passing a criminal background checkNOTE: Job descriptions are not intended to be and should not be construed as exhaustive lists of all responsibilities, skills, efforts, or working conditions associated with a job.
