The ideal candidate will lead the design, development, maintenance, and enhancement of large-scale enterprise applications while collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality software solutions. This role requires strong expertise in Java, SQL, Linux, Agile methodologies, and application performance optimization.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design, coding, testing, debugging, and deployment of enterprise Java applications.Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance Java applications based on technical and functional requirements.Design and review application architecture, flowcharts, technical documentation, and system diagrams.Prepare test plans, test data, and coordinate software testing activities.Analyze, develop, and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, packages, and database schemas.Troubleshoot application issues by analyzing logs, system messages, thread connectivity, memory utilization, and disk performance.Research, analyze, and implement software enhancements, system modifications, and new application features.Develop technical documentation, operational procedures, and end-user manuals.Recommend and implement application performance improvements and system optimization strategies.Develop backup, recovery, and business continuity processes.Coordinate programming assignments, mentor team members, and monitor project progress.Collaborate with business users, technical teams, and stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver technical solutions.Participate in Agile ceremonies, sprint planning, code reviews, and release activities.Support modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy mainframe systems to Java/SQL-based applications.Perform production support, issue resolution, and ongoing application maintenance.Required Qualifications15+ years of experience in Java application development.10+ years of experience with SQL databases, query optimization, and database development.8+ years of experience supporting and developing large-scale enterprise applications in a collaborative team environment.5+ years of experience working in Linux environments.Strong expertise in object-oriented programming, Java frameworks, and enterprise application architecture.Experience troubleshooting production issues and optimizing application performance.Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.Experience creating technical documentation, application diagrams, and operational procedures.Preferred Qualifications8+ years of experience with Atlassian tools, including JIRA.8+ years of experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.Experience supporting State government applications.Experience working with the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) environment.Experience migrating legacy mainframe applications to modern Java/SQL platforms.
