Job Title Full-Stack Engineer with Database, Authentication, and Compliance Expertise Job Type This is a short-term / contract position with eligibility for extension upon adequate progress and pending additional funding in 2025. Experience Mid-to-Senior Company Overview Neurotype Inc. is pioneering new technologies in neurotherapeutics to support the treatment of Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and enhance clinician tools with real-time data and neurophysiological assessments. Our current projects include a HIPAA-compliant clinician dashboard, EEG data collection applications, and cognitive assessments tailored to patient needs. Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Full-Stack Engineer with expertise in secure database management, authentication systems, and compliance with healthcare standards (HIPAA). The role’s primary focus will be to establish a robust, secure backend for our applications, prioritizing data integrity, user access control, and high standards for documentation and version control. Proficiency in GitHub and a deep understanding of Git workflows is essential for this role. Key Responsibilities Version Control (High Priority) Apply best practices for GitHub usage and version control, managing Git branches, pull requests, and release cycles for any and all code. Database and Backend Development (High Priority) Design and maintain secure database architecture for clinical and patient data using Postgres (AWS RDS), supporting seamless data retrieval, integrity, and scalability. Implement HIPAA-compliant data security through encryption, AWS IAM roles, and secure configuration of EC2 and RDS for patient data protection. Establish clear, accessible documentation for backend processes and API endpoints, ensuring maintainability and ease of knowledge transfer for team members. User Authentication and Role-Based Access Control (Medium Priority) Integrate Auth0 to securely manage user authentication and establish role-based access control for clinicians, researchers, and administrators. Document and implement protocols for user roles and permissions, ensuring that patient data remains secure and accessible only to authorized users. Frontend Development in React (Medium Priority) Support and enhance the React-based clinician dashboard, particularly focusing on components for patient session data, real-time data visualization, and user interaction. Build and document reusable front-end components that are HIPAA-compliant and ensure an intuitive user experience for clinicians and researchers. Qualifications GitHub expertise with advanced knowledge of Git workflows, including branching, pull requests, and release management. Proven experience with Django and Postgres (AWS RDS), including schema design, data migration, and secure database management. Strong understanding of authentication workflows and access control systems, preferably with Auth0. Solid frontend skills in React for building interactive user interfaces. AWS expertise in EC2, S3, Lambda, Secrets Manager, and IAM for secure, scalable application deployment. Exceptional documentation skills to ensure code, workflows, and processes are well-documented, supporting team collaboration and regulatory compliance.
