The RN will work night shifts, three 12-hour shifts from 7 PM to 7:30 AM. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:1 or 1:2, based on patient acuity. Weekend coverage consists of four shifts within a four-week schedule, with holiday rotation included. The unit accepts first-time travelers. The RN will provide care to patients with congenital heart disease of any age, based on their care needs. Common procedures include cardiac surgery, heart transplants, and cardiac catheterizations. The unit supports advanced therapies such as ECMO and CRRT. The staffing mix includes registered nurses, patient care technicians, and unit secretaries. Interdisciplinary support is available, including respiratory therapy and pediatric dietitians. The average daily census is 26 patients within the 29-bed unit. This unit specializes in all pediatric cardiac surgeries. Team members must be flexible to float within the scope of the facility's needs. Travelers should be prepared for emergency response team assignments during hurricane season. Preferred experience includes working with various cardiac devices, including HeartMate3 and Impella.
