Provides project layouts and contract documents in accordance with company design standards and client requirements. Assists in the development of drawings and sketches required to complete a project design in a particular discipline.Key Responsibilities:Processes drawings received from the architect into models that can be used by the design teamPrepares electronic drawings with accuracy, neatness, and efficiency using industry softwareAssists in the development of design approaches and concepts on assigned projects with assistance from senior design staffImplements design requirements as related by design teamPerforms system design layout and sizing for assigned projectsAssists in the studies, load calculation, and selection of equipment to fit the project designIdentifies issues with designs and communicates issues with senior designers and engineers as they ariseAttends project update meetings with both clients and team membersAssists the design team in the coordination with external and internal contacts such as owners, architects,MEP disciplines, and CADD designersPerforms collision changes in Navisworks as collisions are identified by the design teamVisually reviews plans for defects in design workPlans work and performs tasks in accordance with the man-hour budgetCommunicates with team members, project managers, other disciplines, and outside vendors to obtain necessary information on drawingsAssists in data collection and/or field verificationAssists with on-site observations during construction and coordinates design requirements with contractors and equipment suppliers under the direction of senior design staffAssists the design team in the process of putting a set of drawings into an organized packageAssists with the upkeep of project design and construction filesLearns to review shop drawings, record changes, and keep all disciplines informed of details and schedulesMaintains a continued focus on keeping up with code requirements, design software, and other industry trendsAssists in the training and mentoring of team membersAn ideal candidate will possess the following requirements:Two-year technical degree in an applicable discipline plus three years applicable experience OR five years applicable experienceCapable of reading and interpreting plans from other disciplines (i.e., architectural, structural, civil, plumbing, electrical, mechanical)Knowledge of AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, and discipline specific engineering software (i.e., TRACE, HASS, and SKM)Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook)Knowledge of construction terminologyKnowledge of basic mathKnowledge of building design specificationsGeneral knowledge of engineering theories and methodologiesGeneral knowledge of applicable engineering disciplinesSSR is an Equal Opportunity / Affirmative Action EmployerEOE Disability/VeteranOur mission is to make a positive difference for our clients, colleagues, and communities.
