Splicing Manager

Job SummaryWe are seeking an experienced Splicing Manager to oversee field construction activities, fiber splicing operations, and vendor performance across fiber network projects. This role will be responsible for managing day-to-day field operations, ensuring installation quality, maintaining network integrity, and overseeing subcontractors and splicing crews in the field. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with OTDR testing, ribbon fiber splicing, outage response, and telecom construction management.Key ResponsibilitiesOversee daily field construction activities, fiber splicing operations, and vendor crews across multiple fiber projectsManage subcontractors, splicing vendors, and field technicians to ensure work is completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standardsPerform quality control inspections on fiber construction and splicing work to ensure network integrity and compliance with engineering specificationsReview and analyze OTDR traces, splice loss results, and fiber test documentation for acceptance and closeoutOversee ribbon fiber splicing, mass fusion splicing, and proper fiber handling and cable management practicesCoordinate field activities between construction, splicing, engineering, and operations teamsSupport and lead outage response efforts, emergency restorations, troubleshooting, and root cause analysisCoordinate and execute network cutovers, maintenance windows, and service activationsVerify routes, permits, traffic control setups, and adherence to construction and safety requirements in the fieldEnsure all as-builts, splice records, and testing documentation are accurate and properly submittedMonitor vendor productivity, workmanship, safety compliance, and overall project performanceConduct field audits and provide corrective action guidance when quality or safety issues are identifiedQualificationsExperience managing fiber splicing, OSP construction, or telecom infrastructure projectsStrong hands-on experience with OTDR testing, fiber troubleshooting, and network acceptance testingExperience with ribbon fiber splicing and mass fusion splicing equipmentProven experience overseeing field construction crews, subcontractors, and splicing vendorsStrong understanding of fiber construction standards, splice loss requirements, and network documentationAbility to troubleshoot network outages and lead restoration activities in the fieldStrong leadership, communication, organizational, and vendor management skillsFamiliarity with splice diagrams, GIS systems, as-builts, and telecom construction practices preferred
