Senior Java Developer - Salem, OR Duration: 11 months | Remote Seeking for an experienced Senior Java/J2EE Developer to support the Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of the eXPRS application. This role will be responsible for developing, enhancing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the eXPRS application while addressing operational, performance, UI, data/reporting, refactoring, and application enhancement requests. The ideal candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with Java, J2EE, IBM DB2 UDB, Eclipse, Azure DevOps, and Agile/Scrum, along with direct eXPRS application development and recent state/government/federal experience. Key Responsibilities: Develop, enhance, maintain, and support the eXPRS application. Identify, troubleshoot, and remediate application bugs and production issues. Complete operational requests and application enhancements from the eXPRS Azure DevOps backlog. Implement application performance, maintenance, and refactoring improvements. Develop and implement user interface enhancements. Support data and reporting enhancement requests. Complete defect and change requests requiring application code modifications. Analyze business requirements and translate them into appropriate technical solutions. Collaborate with business Product Owners, system experts, technical architects, technical leads, and managers. Document solution options, impacted system areas, system dependencies, and capability gaps. Develop technical designs and specifications in accordance with established technical standards. Document technical changes involving databases, interfaces, batch programs, application modules, and use cases. Develop and demonstrate incremental functional prototypes and incorporate stakeholder feedback. Participate in daily Scrum meetings, sprint planning, sprint reviews, demonstrations, and other Agile ceremonies. Provide regular status reporting for two-week development sprints. Use Azure DevOps (ADO/ADOS) and related tools to manage backlog items, defects, enhancements, and development activities. Follow established requirements management, design, development, issue tracking, coding, and naming standards. Maintain complete and accurate system and enhancement documentation. Provide transparency into development activities, deliverables, timelines, risks, and progress. Perform knowledge transfer and transition completed concepts and enhancements to existing team members for ongoing support. Required Qualifications: 10+ years of experience with Java development. 10+ years of experience with J2EE technologies. 10+ years of experience with IBM DB2 UDB. 10+ years of experience using Eclipse for enterprise application development. 1-3 years of eXPRS Application Development experience. Prior state government experience within the last five years. Strong experience with enterprise application development, enhancement, maintenance, and production support. Experience troubleshooting and resolving application defects and technical issues. Experience with application refactoring and performance optimization. Experience developing or supporting database, interface, batch-processing, UI, and reporting changes. Experience creating technical specifications, solution documentation, and system documentation. Experience working with Azure DevOps (ADO/ADOS) for requirements, backlog, defect, and development tracking. Strong experience working within an Agile/Scrum development environment. Ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, Product Owners, architects, developers, technical leads, and managers.
