Instrumentation Technician

Position Title:Instrumentation TechnicianWork Location:South Portland, ME 04106Assignment Duration:3 MonthsWork Schedule:7am - 4pm, Monday - FridayWork Arrangement:OnsitePosition Summary:Perform basic troubleshooting, repairs, and final acceptance testing on medical devices, including but not limited to cleaning, decontaminating, disassembly, and final assembly.Diagnose problems by accurately gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data, either independently or by using job aids.Background & Context:This role supports the maintenance and functionality of medical devices within our organization, ensuring compliance with industry standards and high-volume production requirements.Key Responsibilities:Perform basic troubleshooting, repairs, and final acceptance testing on medical devices, including but not limited to cleaning, decontaminating, disassembly, and final assembly.Diagnose problems by accurately gathering, analyzing, and interpreting data, either independently or by using job aidsDemonstrates financial responsibility by independently approving repairs, up to a value of $2,000.Has the ability to make cost-effective decisions, ensuring efficient and budget-conscious maintenance.Analyze calibration and service data to verify functionality of medical devicesProvide support to other technicians and teammatesCompletes test records and work orders according to procedures with accuracy and timeliness.Perform troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and optical systems and sub-components, adhering to established Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and safety proceduresPerform routine cleaning, decontamination, and surveillance testing of lab space and instruments in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).Inspects equipment, standards, parts, and mechanical components for errors, flaws, and certification/calibration status prior to use to ensure proper operation.Ensure compliance with industry standards and best manufacturing and documentation practices.Completes assigned training curriculum prior to due dates to avoid late training instances.Sets up and operates all equipment needed to perform assigned tasks.Maintains accurate records, supports the management of spare parts inventory and materials, and provides team members with necessary information to procure replacement parts or special materials required for effective equipment repairs.Qualification & Experience:2yr degree, or equivalent combination of experience and education.2+ years of diverse experience in high volume production setting adhering to ISO and FDA RegulationsExperience operating in an organization adhering to ISO, FDA, or comparable quality systems and regulations.Ability to read and understand mechanical, electrical and optical diagrams and technical specificationsHands-on electromechanical repair, rebuild, field service experience.Experience with instrumentation in the medical field.
