Design Engineer

Job Description Position Summary Our engineering department currently has an immediate opening for a Design Engineer. The Design Engineer will be responsible for carrying out the duties of the Engineering Department, including design, research, prototyping, engineering documentation, estimating, and process improvement. The successful candidate will report directly to the Engineering Manager and collaborate with sales, design, purchasing, and production assembly teams on design projects. Roles and Responsibilities * Use SolidWorks to create models and drawings of vehicles from sales drawings (2d CAD) * Research new materials and methods of development * Organize and maintain existing engineering records * Construct prototypes and confirm designs with production and sales teams * Perform physical testing on engineering prototypes * Ensure components and assemblies adhere to applicable industry and business standards * Collaborate with manufacturing and best practices * Professionally collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure projects are on time and of the highest quality Requirements and Skills * Extensive knowledge of metal fabrication processes, specifically sheet metal and welding * Good understanding of cabinet making and CNC routing operations * Impeccable attention to detail * Ability to plan, schedule, coordinate, and problem-solve effectively * Ability to work both independently and in a team environment * ERP experience, including BOM development * Experience leading teams, and or managing small groups preferred * Project Management experience helpful Experience and Education Requirements * Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, ME preferred * 4+ years of experience in mechanical designs, preferably in the Automotive or RV Industry * In-depth knowledge of SolidWorks 3D CAD software, CSWA or CSWP preferred Company Description Matthews Specialty Vehicles, Inc. has been a premier specialty vehicle manufacturer for over 30 years.
