RN Nurse Practitioner - Peds - Temporary position
Purpose of Job
Provides age-appropriate assessment and care to pediatric patients including newborns. Includes assessment, diagnosis, planning, treatment, and education of patients and caregivers. This job description serves as a practice agreement and will be reviewed annually by the collaborating/supervising licensed physician.
Job Functions
Provide advance care across the continuum of acute care services.
Assesses, diagnoses, provides and implements a treatment plan of care and follow up as needed.
Performs physical examinations
Interprets and evaluates patient data
Orders, performs or reviews diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
Provides instructions regarding patient care, disease prevention, and health promotion
Creates and maintains appropriate patient records including transmitting or executing specific orders
Prescribes, administers and dispenses medications, controlled substances and medical devices as appropriate
Initiates evaluation and treatment procedures essential to providing an appropriate response to emergency situations
Assists in surgery (if applicable)
Works directly with Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to obtain DEA registration
Maintains patient confidentiality
Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education/Work Experience
Graduate of an accredited NP program
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
Knowledge of pediatric growth, development, and communication
Ability to effectively handle high-stress fast paced environment
Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above
Ability to multi-task
Ability to respond appropriately to unpredictable situations and diverse patient populations
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
License/Certifications
Current Minnesota RN license
Current MN APRN license
Board eligible or board-certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner
BLS Certification
Preferred Qualifications
Two years previous NP experience in a pediatric setting

Looking for a temporary PNP to cover an extended LOA this Fall. .8 Temporary FTE September-November, timeline may be flexible.
