The Judicial Threat Coordinator provides case management, conducts safety assessments, and develops security plans. The Judicial Threat Coordinator investigates cases, creates and distributes Informational or "Be on the Look Out" (BOLO) flyers, and utilizes the Judicial Branch Security Department's (JBSD) Threat Management Database to perform data entry and track and monitor the status of threats.The Superior Court of the Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County is dedicated to providing a safe, fair, and impartial forum for resolving disputes, enhancing access to our services, and implementing innovative, evidence-based practices that improve community safety and ensure the public's trust and confidence in the Judicial Branch. We fulfill these principles through a culture that values fairness, respect, integrity, innovation, and safety.Position QualificationsWe recognize your time is valuable, so please apply if you meet the following required qualifications:High School Diploma or GEDOne (1) year of security operations and threat intelligence experienceOR Combined education and experience qualifications:Experience with threat management in security, law enforcement, military, or public safety environment may substitute for the experience requirement on a year-for-year basisOur Preferred Candidate has:Experience with workplace violence prevention threat assessment/managementExperience with investigating and managing threat caseloadsExperience interacting with law enforcement agencies and investigatorsKnowledge, skills, and abilities:Knowledge of:Principles, practices, and techniques used in court security, including security awarenessState laws, statutes, department post, general orders, court orders, policies, and procedures, including rights of citizens, search and seizure rules, and rules of evidenceSkill in:Establishing and maintaining effective working relationshipsPreparing clear and concise records, reports, correspondence, and other written materialsEffective oral and written communicationCreating innovative ways to mitigate risk by identifying gaps and proposing solutionsAbility to:Read, understand, interpret, explain, and strictly apply applicable laws, ordinances, policies, court orders, and regulationsExercise sound judgment within general policy guidelinesEssential Job Tasks(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)Manages the JBSD Threat Management Database which contains known or potential threats to court staff (including Judges, Commissioners and Justices of the Peace) and/or court facilities and maintains a liaison with Security Stakeholders, Law Enforcement Agencies, Threat Liaison Officers and other court security departments across the stateResponsible for processing inappropriate communications and threats directed at court staff and Judicial Branch facilitiesResponsible for providing information and security recommendations in the personal protection of Judges, Commissioners and Justices of the Peace while on or off campusUses expertise and best practices in recommending proactive measures to avoid confrontations while maintaining a reactive capability in the form of security plans, procedures, and trainingSupports the vital protective mission of the department by collecting, analyzing, and disseminating requisite information and protective intelligence, both secured and open-source info, in the form of information bulletins, alert notices, protective intelligence briefs, crime statistics, and threat assessmentsGathers, verifies, and analyzes extensive personal, professional, and educational documents; contacts other agencies, governments, and professional organizations to obtain and verify the information for the completion of critical background checksManages the Daily Security Concern case process by assessing iCIS security reports and coordinating with court staff and security officers to develop safety plans for the courtroomReview court cases in iCIS and flag security cases that have potential safety and security concerns in Judicial Branch facilitiesDraft and publish informational flyers or "Be On the Look Out" (BOLO) flyers; maintain BOLO Binders across all JBSD entry pointsManages the Daily Security Concerns distribution programWorking conditions:While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 20 pounds. The hiring authority will select the successful candidate based on departmental needs.Typically, successful candidates are hired at a salary rate up to the midpoint of the range, based on applicable experience, internal equity, and budgetary allowances.All Judicial Branch offers of employment and continued employment are contingent upon passing a thorough background and/or fingerprint check. A conviction may not automatically disqualify an applicant.The Judicial Branch of Arizona in Maricopa County participates in the State Retirement systems ASRS or PSPRS. As such, mandatory membership for all full-time employees includes payroll deducted contributions consistent with each retirement system's requirements. The current contribution rate for ASRS is 12.27% and the current contribution rate for PSPRS is 5.84% and up for the defined contribution plan and 8.82% for the defined benefit plan.
